I know Dad would have been so proud of
@IpswichTown
&
@Argyle
today. If only he was around to see it. What an achievement. Both clubs mean the world to me 💙💚
A year today I lost my Dad. One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through in life. There isn’t a day I don’t think about you. I miss you everyday, you’re always in my thoughts. You were my hero. I’m so proud of what you achieved in life. Your legacy will live on 💙💙💙
💙 On Saturday,
#itfc
and
@only1argyle
will come together to celebrate Paul Mariner Day at Portman Road.
What are your favourite memories of the former Town number nine?
💬 “He was just what we needed, a great leader of the line who had all the attributes of a top-class centre-forward."
Sir Bobby Robson believed his decision to sign Paul Mariner was one of the best he ever made during a lifetime in football.

My Dad told me at first he couldn’t see the Ipswich fans when he was walking out of Wembley, he thought it was just full of Arsenal fans, but when he turned around to look behind him, it was full of blue shirts and scarves 💙😍. 100k fans, wow.

Just got off the phone to my Nan, 94 today! What a woman. She’s been loving the Euros so far, watched every game. She said it brings her closer to Dad and reminds her of when he was playing for England 😩🥹😭❤️
It was a real pleasure to be joined on

OTD 5️⃣0️⃣ years ago, Paul Mariner made is Argyle debut.
He scored two in a 5-0 win over Rochdale.
It was the start of a beautiful journey together 💚

I miss big Al. When I was younger he used to have a kick around with me. He always told me what I was doing wrong with the ball, he was brutal. But that’s how it should always be 😂
Sir Bobby Robson, one of football's purest souls, born in Sacriston, a small village in County Durham, and adored in a coastal city in northwest Portugal.
We're sad to have learned that Paul Mariner, who made 35 appearances for the
#ThreeLions
, has passed away at the age of 68.
Mariner represented England between 1977 and 1985, scoring 13 goals.
Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family, friends and former clubs.
Alan Hunter sometimes looked after me as a kid and he used to shout at me if I wasn't kicking the ball properly 😂😂. That big bellowing Northern Irish accent😆
With
@IpswichTown
facing
@Argyle
tomorrow, it was only fitting that the late, great Paul Mariner would grace the cover of my alternative programme cover concept for this season.
.
Will Town continue their stunning run on their return to the Championship?
