on how pro-life states have become more pro-family in the two years since Dobbs. The “pro-birth, not pro-life” line is both unfair and inaccurate.

There are tenured professors in Boston making less than the PE teachers who organize dodgeball games in Newton. No problem with six figure salaries for good teachers, but until the union is willing to differentiate pay based on field and performance no sympathy is warranted.

Read The Captive Mind by Czeslaw Milosz. Explained this phenomenon better than anyone else I’ve ever read. Hugely influential book for me.
Grades keeping going up, even as student performance stays steady or worsens. Lax standards in our education system are setting students, and America, up for failure. via

Illiberalism is an inevitable byproduct of a post-Christian age. Without Christianity, dehumanizing political opponents becomes rational, and individual rights will be trampled. If we aren’t image bearers, liberalism has nothing to stand on.
Woke integralism vs. anti-woke integralism is no way to run a country, not consistent with our Constitution, and far from what most Americans want. Unfortunately it’s what some very powerful people think we need. Decentralize and dynamize!

: The right has its problems, but never be convinced you’re a weirdo by someone who thinks a man can become a woman. That said, if you’re a Christian, the world will think you’re weird no matter what, so be “weird” for the right reasons.
This is what’s alarming. If Vance becomes the heir apparent, three legged stool conservatism/classical liberalism might be dead in both parties. A dangerous time for friends of liberty.
Some might say Christianity and liberalism (along with the ancients) are the pillars of the American tradition. This is wrong. Liberalism is the mansion on top of a sturdy foundation. If the foundation erodes, the mansion will collapse no matter how beautiful it is.
In time, more people will embrace a vision similar to Yuval Noah Harari, even if they don’t say it. Human rights are made up myths we sell to keep society moving along. But there’s no actual need to protect the rights of your enemies if they aren’t image bearers.
