LK-99 is quite likely a room-temperature superconductor, or if not it points the way towards building one. But LK-99 is not going to be as easy to synthesize as you have been told, and it's going to be a long, long way to viable applications. Unless we cheat... 🧵1/33

@NLRG_it Here's an argument against: the retirement age is a (social/societal) contract between workers and pension. We shouldn't break contracts. Higher retirement age for new workers? Okay, if you think that's best. But someone 2 years from retirements shouldn't suddenly have to work 5.

So why do Type A fans hate Starship so much? Because it doesn't look like Apollo. More importantly, it doesn't *feel* like Apollo. It takes the heroism out of the program. With ginormous mass margins its more like car camping than it is Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica.

@antiquatedabbie One contributing factor, though not the only one, is that your game plan has to change with the 3rd kid. With 2 hands / 2 parents, you can still helicopter-parent your kids. With the 3+ the strategy _has_ to change to zone defense. And then you find out how easier that style is.

@justinamash The worst thing I saw from my years of government service (though a contractor) was the prevalence of waivers. Every time a roadblock came up, the question was a“how do we get a waiver?” not “how do we avoid doing something illegal or unsafe?” It’s poisonous.
