Amazing!!
I was told of a Mute Swan @Blarney_Castle which had a ring on its leg and on Saturday @roisin765 managed to read the ring. It has only moved 7km, but was ringed by @johbees at The Lough nearly 21 years ago, making it the new Irish longevity record @_BTO @BirdWatchIE @_EURING

What a wonderful experience meeting @colingreenwood today in @easons. Such a lovely warm and humble guy. We chatted about cameras while he signed a book for me. You can even see the back of my head in the first photo of the queue!

Such a terribly sad omen...
A critically endangered Freshwater Pearl Mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) using its 'muscular foot' to try to reach a more suitable habitat in a eutrophic river in Donegal this week. However, there is nowhere better to go for this elderly mussel. There were once millions of mussels here, but they haven't reproduced in decades. They will all be gone soon, and the salmon will follow them. It's all about water quality!
