Due to a number of COVID-19 cases detected among employees, the County AdminBuilding will close to the public today at 2:30pm. Offices will reopen on Monday, June 21 at 8 am. When our offices reopen, COVID-19 safety protocols will resume, including mandatory face masks.

Happy Birthday, Manatee County! 🎂 Today we turn 164 years old. When Manatee County was founded in 1855, it was about the size of Connecticut, extending from the Gulf of Mexico to the Kissimmee River and Lake Okeechobee and from the present northern boundary to Charlotte Harbor.
Manatee County Ranger Jerry recently captured footage of this male panther at Duette Preserve. Male panthers are known to explore a broader territory, spanning over 200,000 acres, compared to females. Duette's 22,000 acres have become a frequent sighting location.
Manatee County's public beaches open today at 10 a.m. Please avoid groups, maintain 6' distance from others and limit your stay to two hours so others can enjoy the beach responsibly.

announced that former District 2 County Commissioner Gwen Brown has passed away with complications from the coronavirus. She was Manatee County's first African American commissioner and served our community from 1994 - 2010. Rest in peace, Dr. Brown.

We've intensified our daily beach raking efforts along the shore of AMI & are taking additional steps to address red tide before it reaches local beaches. To date Manatee County has avoided the worst impacts from an early summer red tide bloom. Read more:

Today is County Administrator Ed Hunzeker's final County Commission meeting. After 12 years with Manatee County and 51 years in public service he's calling it a career. We're going to miss him.
Three line breaks in the potable system have been reported. Two have been repaired, and the additional one will be repaired as soon storm conditions improve. Also, approximately 15% of sewage lift stations are without power so customers are asked to limit flushing.
