Officer Mendes responded to a request for police assistance regarding a turtle situation at a gas station. He was shell-shocked to discover it wasn't a vicious snapping turtle or a giant gopher tortoise. After a slow-speed chase, the turtle trespasser was taken into custody.🐢🚔

Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a teenager near the Palma Sola Causeway. A BPD officer located Martavious Carter, 16, deceased, just after 1 a.m. It's believed that Carter was picked up in Manatee Co. and driven to Causeway. MORE:

The Palma Sola Causeway is CLOSED while Bradenton Police Detectives and the Manatee Homicide Task Force investigate a suspicious death. BPD responded to the scene shortly after 1 a.m. and located a man, deceased. This is an active investigation.
