@RosieP4 These empty houses are usually in places where people don't want to live and where there are no jobs though.

@beardedjourno The current situation really embodies the worst of post-war planning and subsequent neglect. It's a grim, uninviting, wasted space. That in a city that screams for more housing and it's close to jobs and the station. If anything is a blight it's the current state.

@TomHulme79 This is a strange issue with constituency-based MPs. You get people responsible for foreign policy also wasting time on potholes and the opening times of the local pub. 🤡

@BritishSpiders Yes, in some parts definitely not difficult to find when overturning soil-embedded rocks. Likely more widespread than my current map indicates.

@ChristosA89 Looks like a combination of very low metabolic rate + little competition + relatively high number of chloroplasts per cell.

Some soil critters from today's walk along the Frome: more shelled slugs (Testacella cf. 'tenuipenis'). Also notice the tiny white mites (Riccardoella oudemansi) that walk over them.

The caterpillar of the leaf-mining moth Ectoedemia heringella feeding on Evergreen Oak. Here you can see it feed on the succulant greenery covered by the transparant top layer of the leaf.
