Very excited to be launching my new blog Regular Royal Queens, where I’ll be telling stories of some of the most fascinating royal women across the world and across the years! 👑
Read about what to expect here⬇️
“When I was young we never had trigger warnings for shows”
Actor Ralph Fiennes “the impact of theatre should be that you’re shocked” and that he thinks audiences have gone too soft

*sigh* this is what the kids don’t get. That’s what a temp called Donna from Chiswick would wear 15 years ago.
I don’t just want my characters to feel real, I want them to look real.
I love watching MPs swearing in following an election. It’s an easy way to learn new names and faces and gives a great insight into the religious, national and political identities of members.
Here’s a thread of some of the more interesting moments from the last couple of days🧵
trans people have been allowed to compete in the Olympics for 2 decades and in that time not a single trans woman has won a medal, but do tell me more about how trans people are going to destroy women’s sports
I’ve just come across this documentary about three hair salons in Blackpool in 1994 and oh my God, it’s sheer perfection.
I’ll leave you with some highlights; Gwen’s whisky, the incident at Kwiksave, the funeral bag and the death of Maureen.
If you watch one thing today, make it this clip of Pat Phoenix getting hit in the back of the head by a camera while filming Coronation Street. The look she gives to the crew is delicious.
I’m pretty sure everyone’s seen this by now but if you haven’t, prepare to finish your weekend with a smile.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you; Dame Judi Dench✨

Sir Simon Clarke tells
@AndrewMarr9
he could see Nigel Farage entering the Conservative family as the party needs a way to ‘reunify the centre-right’ and revealed Kemi Badenoch and Robert Jenrick ‘are more to [his] taste’ to be future Tory leaders, stating he believes the
Grandma went to her first Asian wedding yesterday. She’s not too steady on her legs so she said she probably wasn’t going to stay late. Got sent this at midnight last night.
Think this is a big divide in the fandom. One section seems to think every character should look like they’ve just walked out of a Hollywood costume department and makeup chair. Some people are just normal and that’s how they should look.
Absolutely heartbroken. My 81 year old Nan is point blank refusing to have the vaccine. Citing a load of shite she’s seen on Facebook. She will not be convinced.
WORDS. MATTER.
As noticed by many,
@Keir_Starmer
chose to make the secular affirmation rather than the oath. It doesn’t seem to be clear whether he’s the first Prime Minister to do so.
Currently watching some old Conservative party political broadcasts (cos I’m all about fun) and came across this one from 2011.
I…think it’s quite good?
I don’t think the kids realise that if Harris loses, Trump wins.
That’s it.
There’s no third option. There’s no ‘neither’ option.
One of them is going to be the next President and if it isn’t Harris, it’s Trump.
Time to put on your big girl pants.
@salfordsmith61
They’re not objective, and they’re not worded to be. Most of my DVDs ratings include text about what ‘may’ be suitable for certain audiences, not what *is*.
@cajardineMP
As an Irish nationalist, SDLP MP for South Belfast and Mid Down
@ClaireHanna
chose to lodge a protest before making the affirmation, making an additional statement in Gaelic🇮🇪
The moment Keir Starmer was covered in glitter by a protestor as he started his party conference speech...
The man was dragged out by security to a disapproving audience, who cheered the Labour leader on.
Several Cornish MPs, including Labour MPs for Truro and Falmouth
@JayneKirkham4
and Camborne and Redruth
@Perran4CRH
, made their affirmation in the Cornish language☀️🌊
Several Welsh Members, such as Plaid Cymru MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd
@LSRPlaid
, Labour MP for Pontypridd
@AlexDaviesJones
and Liberal Democrat MP for Chesham and Amersham
@SarahGreenLD
, made their oath or affirmation in Welsh, with some also using the Welsh Bible🏴
@CamillaTominey
Eisenhower didn’t attend Elizabeth II’s coronation. Roosevelt didn’t attend George VI’s coronation. I could go on.
If you can’t be bothered to be a proper journalist you shouldn’t bother at all.
'Mid-term by-elections are always difficult for incumbent governments'
Rishi Sunak has insisted the circumstances surrounding the Wellingborough and Kingswood by-elections were 'particularly challenging' after suffering a double defeat to Labour
A lot of people also noticed
@RishiSunak
swearing on the Gita, a Hindu sacred text, but he wasn’t the only one; Conservative MP for Leicester East
@ShivaniRaja_LE
and Labour MP for Vale of Glamorgan
@KanishkaNarayan
were among those who opted for the text🕉️
The point of the Pride flag is that we all fit under it. No matter how small or niche our place in the community, we’re all united under this symbol *and we’re all equal underneath it*.
Who should decide who gets their own section on a flag that belongs to all of us?
Labour MP for Birmingham Ladywood
@ShabanaMahmood
and Labour MP for Bradford West
@NazShahBfd
both swore on the Qur'an☪️
Both members wore head coverings for the occasion, which unless I’m mistaken they do not usually do in public.
Most Sikh Members, including Labour MP for Smethick
@gsjosan
and Labour MP for Slough
@TanDhesi
, chose to make the religious oath without holding a sacred text. This caused some confusion amongst some of the (presumably newer) House staff🪯
New Queen Mary of Denmark has a lot in common with Kate Middleton, from twin styling to big broods and fairytale romances (and don't forget those awkward in-laws!)
As far as I know, Conservative MP for Harrow East
@BobBlackman
is the only member so far to swear on two texts; the King James Bible and the Gita✝️🕉️
His constituency is the 3rd most Hindu in the country, with 28% of residents identifying with the faith.
On the 96th anniversary of her birth, let’s remember the time Queen Fabiola of the Belgians was sent a letter by someone saying they were going to kill her with a crossbow and she responded at her next public engagement by waving an apple and saying “Where are you William Tell?”
Jewish Members have two choices of text; either the Hebrew Bible, as used by Labour MP for Warrington North
@charlotte2153
, or the Torah, as used by Labour MP for Wirral West
@Matthew_Patrick
✡️
1) This is a nice, classy speech. 2) This is what was lost on a lot of the election night telly, where there was far too much chat and not enough counts.
Several Scottish Members, including Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh West
@cajardineMP
, chose to give ‘the Scottish oath’ with one hand raised🏴
Wednesday will see the first PMQs taken by a Labour Prime Minister who defeated a Conservative Prime Minister at an election since the 21st of May 1997🗳️
To mark the occasion, let’s look at who asked the questions at that session 27 years ago, and what they’ve been up to since🧵
In 2021, the Danish comedian Ulf Pilgaard, who spent his long career impersonating the Queen of Denmark, finally retired. As he was receiving his encore, a special guest joined him on the stage…
Today marks 36 years since the start of the Falklands War. We should be eternally grateful for the sacrifices made by our brave servicemen and women in the defence of the rights of British citizens 🇬🇧
The conservatives have been in power for nearly 10 years. If they were going to fund the NHS, they would have done it by now. Don’t trust them.
#DontVoteTory
To the members of my party who gush over Johnson with blind adoration after the damage he did both to our party and our democratic institutions; I don’t want to hear you laughing at mad Corbynite Labour members ever again. Because you’re exactly the same.
There will now be a minutes silence for you all to appreciate Queen Margrethe II of Denmark’s raincoat that she designed herself and is made from a tablecloth✨
Can’t be overstated what an incredible job
@PennyMordaunt
did today. Appointed only 4 days ago to an arguably minor role, the way she carried out a duty that hasn’t been necessary for 70 years was outstanding. God knows how late she stayed up practising.
Did a (media-free) ‘volunteering’ session at the
@eicc
vaccine centre earlier. Not sure I was much help but it gave me good insight into how it all works (v efficiently) and to say a massive thank you to everyone doing truly heroic work.
#BoostedByTheBells
I’m not even saying this to be snarky or hyperbolic; I don’t think Katharine Birbalsingh likes children.
Every single story about her in the media seems to boil down to her resenting any of her students showing an ounce of individuality.
I ‘suddenly’ started wearing an orange scarf last week. True story.
I’d never worn an orange scarf before and then one day I did. ‘Suddenly’?
Language is important. Reveals a lot.
Women and girls choose to start wearing hijab, for the first time, all the time. Why ‘suddenly’?
Reminder for 1st year uni students: it is very unlikely that people dislike you for your political views and much more likely that it’s because you’re behaving like a dickhead
I’m standing to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and your Prime Minister. For me it’s about aspirational conservatism, fresh ideas, fresh team for a fresh start taking our great country forward. (Full video on my Facebook page).
