I was independently performing neurosurgical procedures before coming to the Uk,
but I needed help to cannulate a patient because I didn’t know the colours of the tubes, etc.

Just imagine yourself starting a new job in a country that doesn’t speak your native language and not having similar culture.

They lose years without anyone telling them you need to do so and so.
- Make sure they are aware of opportunities from day one.
- Offer them support.

Yes, they pass IELTS etc
But day to day language is something else.
Not to mention different accents in different UK regions.
- Ask them if they need help.
- Explain things twice if needed.
- Make sure they understand what you are saying, because they might not.

Me and

offered to take patient back to the ward. It was not the easiest job to do, opening the doors and steering the bed. Our porters are a very valuable members of our team and deserve appreciation. Just wanted to say Thank You to all who make our job easier.

Sometimes, or most of the times, they need to downgrade or restart their training, this can be very frustrating.
Respect their experience, praise their efforts and support.
