Do you know about the genetics of #iNPH? This review summarises the studies from twins and familial cases and looks at cilia dysfunction. #MorningPaper @neuro_at_ic @e1v1m1 @BrainSchool101 @PaedNeurosurg @AhmedToma13 @AsianCNS @EANS_yns @realyoungcaans

@mtbendermd @e1v1m1 @BrainSchool101 @AsianCNS @EANS_yns @realyoungcaans @WFNS_YNF @virtualspine Perfect. There is indeed contrast escaping into the veins and another useful sign is a delayed phase CT of the kidneys showing the contrast there, which is evidence of CSF diversion into the veins. This cyst was actually part of the fistula and needed to be removed.

@SaraTahaB20 @e1v1m1 @BrainSchool101 @AsianCNS @EANS_yns @realyoungcaans @WFNS_YNF @virtualspine Perfect answer! Excellent! #SIH can present with postural headaches, nausea, dizziness, diplopia, dysphagia etc. This is indeed a CSF-venous fistula and here's the intra-op photo of it, along with a thromboses vein adjacent.

3/ Interestingly, despite inadequate power and not the original aim, they found significant correlation between CSF protein count and shunt failure rates. They felt that protein >1g/dL ➡️ ⬆️failure rate.

8/ Forgot to explain, we shouldn't call SAH, SDH, contusions etc #ICH and clump them in one big cohort as they all have very different pathophysiology and outcome. The overall result is therefore an underestimate for some and overestimate for others. Quoting @markhwilson here!
