🚨Personal Announcement🚨
I’m writing a book! 🥳🥳🥳
Many thanks to
@RIBA
publishing for the opportunity to write this book.
It’s a topic that I’ve been thinking (and talking) about for a LONG time.
Healthy Cities, and how we can afford them.

The Rolls-Royce Micro-Reactor will provide reliable, autonomous energy solutions to multiple markets. Providing zero-emission power, our advanced nuclear technologies support many global Net Zero targets, solving energy dependence across many industries.
China hacked the MOD a few months ago and has stolen the payroll data for our entire armed forces. Including identities and bank accounts . Coverage lasted maybe half a day or less.
We’ve spoken about donations for 5 days straight. Wall to wall.

admits she accepted £14,000 in donations from Lord Alli to pay for an event "for lobby journalists" and an event ahead of her 40th birthday.

I remember a senior Architect and Lecturer proposing that cities should be covered in farms.
So I, a precocious 19 year old, asked.
Who exactly would be working on all these farms.
His response?
All of us.
That’s when I knew some people were not serious about solving real

report on Nimbyism from 1990 (two years after Nicholas Ridley invented the word)
We are absolutely hammering this generation. No retail jobs, no university without sky high debt, no freedom of movement and cultural exchange, no time with their friends due to social distancing, no affordable housing and giant recessions. All they can enjoy is Social Media. 🤦🏾♂️
It's bad enough the government spends far less on kids' education depending on where they live.
But to deliberately worsen a child's exams results because their school historically struggles because of that!?...
You're intentionally enforcing inequality!
"Nearly 40% of A-level"
I ask myself this question about being female, being disabled, being a refugee, being gay, being muslim. If the answer is no, I try and do more to support these groups. The point is EMPATHY and responsibility, not blame. We don’t choose who we are but we do choose how we relate.
"One of the criticisms I've faced over the years is that I'm not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because I'm empathetic, I'm weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong." - Jacinda Ardern
@packyM
You’re right.
That being said, throwing a colleague out like trash without even the slight courtesy speaks volumes and smacks of feeling bad because it didn’t work out.
The board statement didn’t thank Sam, it didn’t suggest it was a difficult decision. Worse, it insinuated
Is the New York High-line the coolest retrofit example?

If millennials can permanently defeat NIMBYISM we will unlock a golden age for the UK.
Not just because we’ll have higher growth but because we’ll stop seeing growth as a bad thing and stop seeing stagnation as a good thing.
Corrupt real estate developers are gentrifying neighborhoods and forcing working families out of the homes and apartments, only to replace them with fancy condominiums and hotels that only the very rich can afford.
We need affordable housing for all.
The new Morris EV Van is 😍.
100% electric. 100% British and the chassis is made from recycled carbon fibre from the Black Country. (Woop woop).
Why aren’t we using recycled carbon fibre for buildings? 🤔

Growing up you think ‘yeah show her!’.
As a professional you think ‘Are you suggesting that whenever we, (a top law firm) have time to call you before we call anyone? If so, please be advised our invoices will reflect this *unique* arrangement.’
Washing clothes by hand is a chore, oftentimes a lonely one. But it needn’t be. We could have communal washing facilities in each neighborhood where people can plan to come in groups to do their laundry together...

Critics of new development often cite concerns about height as the reason for their opposition.
Where these concerns are made in good faith, I believe it's because most new tall buildings appear bulky & burdensome.
But we know how to design new elegant, lovely tall buildings!
Note to self: Amsterdam is loved for many reasons. A big one is it’s town houses. They’re colourful, varied and interesting. Possibly the most curious thing about this image is that it’s not expensive to build. These are terraced houses! This is within reach 😅

For £1m id expect it to save my life, call emergency services, and dissolve into nanobots which are able to stabilise me before they arrive.
Caught up with a French founder in Paris today. He’s thinking about leaving the country based on the gloomy election sentiment. Same feeling in the US. Some of the best and brightest talent are not planning to stick around. I’m just curious tho…where is everyone going??
Can’t build affordable housing if you oppose building homes in the places people want to live.
This is a very good demonstration of having the comfort of never having to govern, but spout pointless platitudes.
@PhinHarper
I wish, but it wasn’t. It was a proposal for urban farms as a solution to food security.
The ‘all of us’ was referring to us being farmers. Part time. Not as a recreational, community building thing. Although that was highlighted as a second order benefit.
The economics of
Coloured concrete compromise?
Image 1) My very fast. Very rough edit.
Looks much better in my opinion. Would incur a 10-30% uplift on the concrete mix but not the casting. Pittance compared to the 8-10X uplift of burying the line.
If we wanted to be fancy (and cost efficient)
The results were very clear with an unambiguous public preference for the red brick design. The British public overwhelmingly preferred the red brick arch design by 69% to 28%. And there's even better news...

Poverty/lack of opportunity and crime go hand in hand. Prosperity and social mobility don’t eradicate crime but the reduce it. They reduce it because once you have an option and something to lose, you think twice.

100% I think he’s getting in his own way by trying to make it a fantasy play land rather being able to put you ‘in the room’.
Tech works best when it gives you super powers.
I think it would be more successful if Google did it. Assuming they didn’t kill it.

They’re pushed to extremes of competence to compensate for unfair treatment. Then they recieve unfair treatment because they’re beyond competent.
That’s BS.
20mph is replacing 30mph all over the UK.
Wales + Scotland likely to along everywhere along with English cities such as Nottingham.
It has many benefits:

💨 Smoother driving reduces air pollution
👧 It’s safer
🌱 Reduces CO2 emissions
