Yesterday, Walz lied by saying that the House was tied 67-67. Today, the Supreme Court found that Walz violated election law by calling the District 40B Special Election prematurely. The House will now stay 66-67 for even longer than Walz anticipated because he broke the law.
WATCH: Gov. Tim Walz falsely claims that the Minnesota House is tied 67-67. Democrats currently hold only 66 seats after one of their candidates was caught running in a district he didn't live in. A special election will decide if the House is tied later this month.

Majority Leader @HarryNiska: "The Minnesota Constitution says that the grounds for recall include nonfeasance of office. If nonfeasance of office means anything with legislators, not showing up for work at the statutorily-defined time certainly counts."
As Majority Leader Niska said at our press conference earlier this week, legislators who don't show up for work on the first day of session can expect to be recalled.

UNBELIEVABLE: In a hot mic moment, Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman threatens to silence the voice of the minority and end debate on the House Floor, after already shutting Republicans out of conference committees. “And they won’t get to talk anymore.” #mnleg

Last night on @tptAlmanac DFL Leader Hortman made a claim so absurd that the host burst out laughing. She claimed that yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling somehow brought the House back to a tie. In reality, the 40B seat will be filled after a Special Election in March. House

How much time, money and resources are the 67 House members willing to waste this session? No Speaker can be sworn in and no bills can pass without 68 votes. After 2 weeks of taxpayer-funded sham meetings and a SC ruling on quorum, what is the MN GOP plan? #mnleg.

Representative Vang has been absent from the floor the last two days, but it seems she was also absent in 2019 and 2021 when the House DFL passed the same organizing resolution - just like every other year.
If you were "duly organized" in the first place, you wouldn't need to pass your own resolution to say so. #mnleg.

House Democrats think photos at abortion clinics and organizing their activists to disrupt committees are a stand in for doing their job and showing up to work. Remember: they’re still drawing their taxpayer-funded paychecks even though they’ve been absent for 7 days so far.
Instead of showing up for work, Rep. Finke and the House DFL are collecting a taxpayer-funded paychecks while encouraging left-wing activists to disrupt committee hearings.

In a 2022 Rules Committee hearing that Winkler chaired, he and the DFL authorized the $730,000,000 State Office Building project, choosing to spend that money on a palace for politicians instead of something worthwhile, like badly needed like childcare.
Spending $100 million per year of Minnesota tax money on tax breaks for big tech is insane. Cancel the credit and spend the money on something worthwhile, like badly needed childcare. #mnleg .

As Majority Leader Niska said at our press conference earlier this week, legislators who don't show up for work on the first day of session can expect to be recalled.
The MN Republican Party will announce Monday plans to file recall petitions against any state lawmaker who doesn’t show up to work at the State Capitol for opening day on Tuesday. House Democrats have threatened to stay away in a power-sharing dispute with Republicans.

House Republicans have been trying to stop fraud for years. The Democrat trifecta took no action from 2023-2024 and now they're boycotting the 2025 session so our new Fraud and Oversight Committee can't officially meet.
The Walz Administration has lost hundreds and hundreds of millions dollars to fraud in the past couple years. It’s unacceptable, and the only people on the hook for it are the taxpayers. I spoke about this briefly on the floor this session, take a look 👇

Democrats knew this would happen even before they passed this bill.
Rep. Sencer-Mura says that the entire DFL understands that their paid family leave mandate "will be hard on small businesses" but they need to make it work anyway. The bill adds over 400 new state employees to administer the program and a new payroll tax.
