What if there was a city in North Carolina that was rapidly growing...had extreme baseball fandom with land downtown approved for a stadium...and could easily turn Oakland to Oak City?
#RaleighOnDeck
BREAKING: The Oakland A's will start exploring relocation possibilities after Major League Baseball suggested the organization consider moving to other cities if the Howard Terminal stadium proposal is not approved by local politicians.

The movement is LIVE!
Tom Dundon (Owner of the Carolina Hurricanes) went public with the plan to "lead a group to put our best foot forward to get a Major League Baseball team in North Carolina' ... and he's specifically targeting Raleigh.

ESPN just dropped write-ups on the 10 most likely destinations for MLB expansion and we're one of them.

Today we officially declare Raleigh a candidate for a Major League Baseball franchise. We hope to show, beyond a doubt, our City and its people are ready. Join the Movement and let's create something special.

Good morning 919,
When you talk to folks in the coming days, they’re all going to say how great the Stadium Series game was. This region has a passion for sports and MLB would be welcomed and loved. 🧵
REMINDER: North Carolina is the largest state in the US without an MLB team. Meanwhile, 7 of the top 8 states have multiple teams.
It’s time we change that.

“The Triangle is the right kind of place to bring MLB.”
Gov. Cooper, unprompted, went all-in on MLB to Raleigh, stating that when MLB is ready to expand “we’ll be in the mix” with a billionaire owner & government support.
Full Convo on O+G Pod:
Yesterday was a huge step forward for Raleigh’s MLB future. People with experience, strong local ties and passion for the Triangle want to push this into reality, while further amplifying the Canes’ success.

Is MLB coming to Raleigh?
Congrats to the
@Canes
for selling out EVERY SINGLE home game this season!
If an MLB team replicated the Canes '23 average attendance numbers over the course of a season, we'd have higher numbers than 4 current MLB teams + rank 6th overall in MLB for 'per capita' attendance.
Simply put, the Carolinas need a MLB team. Data, community support, baseball history, entrepreneurial spirit and creative culture all point to Raleigh.

Just wanted to drop this here quick. Seems like you’d want to expand where more baseball fans are, not checking off time zone boxes 🤷♂️

The people have spoken...LOUDLY...and our KBO team is the NC Dinos. We would suggest, however, that they introduce a third mascot being a Tri(angle)ceratops.

REMINDER: Raleigh leads in every market viability metric vs. current MLB expansion front-runners (Nashville, Portland & SLC)
✅ Largest metro population
✅ Largest state population
✅ Highest ranked media market
✅ Most in-state Top-50 media markets
✅ Billionaire Owner
REMINDER: The Raleigh-Durham Media Market is ranked

overall. Larget than 7 current MLB markets.
It's larger than expansion front-runners such as Nashville (
#27
), SLC (
#29
), & Portland (

PS. Local Media makes up 23% of revenue for MLB teams, more than any other sport
The Mudcats are moving to Wilson!

We’ve been tagged in the below meme a hundred times. While we think a majority of folks understand MLB isn’t looking to cover land but people…we’ve attached a second map.

"Can an MLB team in Raleigh fill the stadium for 81 nights per year?"
Population density within about an hour's drive (60 miles) would be one metric you could look at to help answer this question. So let's look at that...
Here is Raleigh vs. Nashville...
The year is 1993. Charlotte grabs a NFL expansion team and, FINALLY, can separate itself from being confused with CHarlottesville and CHarleston (CH-factor).
CLT was viable at 538k. Raleigh would be 3X the size (not even including Durham). A short 🧵

"How would Raleigh stack up against current MLB markets in attendance?"
Yesterday, we looked at population density within a 60-mile radius & compared it to expansion contenders.
Today, we'll use that same metric, and put it up against current MLB markets.

🧵How does Raleigh stack up against the MLB Expansion “Front-Runners”?
With the MLB season over, it’s time we start digging a little more into the expansion landscape. What regions will MLB be targeting when they add 2 new teams and how do we stack up?

Honest question: How did Charlotte's airport get so bad? Every time I fly through here, it's the worst airport experience I've had since the *last time* I was here.
Gridlocked gates. Long walks. Laid out in a nonsensical, frustrating way.
Anyway: onto Omaha (eventually).
We at MLB Raleigh are here to ruffle some literal feathers this morning.
Because the Triangle isn’t Braves Country and some folks need to know, Atlanta doesn’t run everything here.
