También hace falta que cambien las normas sociales en los departamentos. Y entender que un buen profesor no es solo el que se gana una ERC o publica en top journals. Es también el que trata bien a los inv. junior que tiene a su cargo y se preocupa por que desarrollen su carrera.

El problema son la gran cantidad de prácticas abusivas o microagresiones que están totalmente normalizadas en los entornos universitarios. Hay catedráticos q tratan a los predocs y postdocs que supervisan como si estos tuviesen que agradecerle el sueldo todos los días.

El problema del acoso laboral más común (en mi experiencia) es que es menos mediático: no se trata de un solo evento horrible que te haya pasado. Son las microagresiones constantes que, por su efecto acumulativo, acaban minando a los/as investigadores/as junior.

Rule of thumb: si te entra ansiedad o miedo cada vez que tienes una reunión con el catedrático de turno que te supervisa, huye. ¿Por qué digo huye? Porque a día de hoy no hay mecanismos en las universidades para limitar este tipo de relaciones de poder.

Even after 5 years in the UK and having an English-speaking partner, I'm still slower at writing in English (and more likely to make mistakes) than in Spanish/Galician
Scientists whose first language is not English spend much longer to read and write papers in English and prepare for international conferences.
