But as we know, Tenderprenuers don't read much. So they don't check if they can find this material close by when pricing for a project.

And lastly the most expensive component of the road.
The asphalt. Placement of this layer is literally a skilled process. Something Tenderprenuers don't believe in paying for. So they buy the cheapest mixture they can get. Even worse, they buy asphalt made to fix potholes!

So once you have this concoction of greed, poor workmanship and one good rainy day, you have a road that starts to breakdown. And the damage gets worse with every rain event. Even worse when you have roads which have agricultural and mining trucks as the frequent road users.

Another mistake they make is with the binder. Basically you have to glue the base and the asphalt to each other. Most forget to to this.

The Subbase is supposed to be a "Moderate strength, free draining natural material." A good match for this is what we call a G6 or G7.
A G5/G6 is generally a type of material is classified as natural gravel and the G7 to G10 type of material as a gravel-soil.
