The polls have consistently underestimated Republican turnout in wave years at this point in the race. 2014 was the last such example. D+1.2 at this point in the polls, R+5.7 in the final results. A swing of nearly 7 points! At this point of 2010 R+2.9. Republicans won by 6.8.
