@SweChurchman @lalalelus Yeah, what I really trying to say I guess is that a church (as LCMS) does not lack anything. Something that isn't Scriptural and Apostolic cannot be catholic in the sense that it's part of the church's essence.

@SweChurchman @lalalelus That's actually not really correct. 1571 says that the order of Bishops is a human order that is pleasing to God, but the office is one.

@SweChurchman As pointed out, I think this was an interesting perspective - not a conclusion. One cannot deny the laymen influence in keeping LCMS faithful during the whole Seminex debacle. A top-down policy can preserve orthodoxy, but it can in the same way impose apostacy.
