seems like a mark against the "reusing respirators after letting them sit in a paper bag for a few days" routine (which was never based in any science as far as i could tell) and a point for the Van der Waals force 👀

New study by @linseymarr : “We aerosolized SARS-CoV-2. After 1 hr, we were able to recover infectious virus from fabric masks but not an N95 or surgical mask. When we pressed artificial skin against the masks, we found viral RNA but no infectious virus on the skin.” #MasksWork

This is spot-on in my opinion. And contributes to white peoples’ recklessness around covid & climate. So many white people are more passively suicidal than want to admit and have this mentality of “if it kills me, it kills me, I’m not going to change what I do”.

have you heard people blaming how much they get sick on having not been sick often enough before? 🤔 the immunity debt myth has gained mainstream traction in the last few years as an easy and convenient explanation for the rise in illness, but is it true?

here is an analogy! our city has horrible public transit. many people without their own vehicles are forced to spend inordinate amounts of time walking and riding buses that come once an hour, but the mayor has stated "our city has no need for expanded transit, just buy a car."

@AlexGerber6 things didn't magically become safe w the vaccines. literally no science supported the idea that vaccines were enough to remove all other mitigations. it was a cynical messaging choice to get people spending money in public at the risk of their own health.

the (ongoing) pandemic is well-documented in scientific literature to cause brain damage that could be affecting many ppl's ability to drive safely. so cities "doing something" about this would look like stopping disease spread and investing in treatment + safe public transit.

Wish cities would do something about the fact that since the pandemic the vast majority of drivers drive homicidally and when they’re even slightly inconvenienced by me, a normal person trying to cross the street or ride my bike they behave like they’ve got lead paint brain

went to an apartment viewing w/ a friend. first thing agent did was look at our masks and ask "uhh are y'all sick?." anyways w the way people react to the masks + my Real Job income being just under the minimum that all these landlords require, feels impossible to find a place.

all the people going off about 'shaming individuals' seem really clueless about the extent to which disabled individuals have been abandoned and harmed by the majority of the individuals they used to know... it's such a common experience it could be... systemic 😮

very important! HEPA placement matters! i see a LOT of pics at HEPAs just kinda like... in the corner. they should be placed centrally between people to be as effective as possible.

Placement matters! Closest to infector is best (duh), but this is never known. So our results found that, in the absence of knowing who is infected, deploying a PAC at the center of the room is recommended.
