Good question about internal or external application of iodine for cherry angiomas. ❣️Painting iodine on the skin is very useful for a number of issues, Supplementing iodine clears the crimson spots. Initially more dots may appear and then they turn a darker red and fade away. As noted in this post by the lovely @bioavailableNd, the cause of cherry angiomas were a mystery until it was discovered that their appearance comes from the body detoxing bromide. As the body’s beautiful intelligence works to move toxic bromide away from vital organs, bromide gets pushed to the skin’s surface. Bromide is a toxic halogen that gets stored in our fat tissues, interferes with thyroid function and blocks the assimilation of much-needed iodine. Plentiful in our factory food supply, bromide is an additive listed on labels as potassium bromate and brominated vegetable oil (BVO) that can be found in breads, sports drinks, and fruit-flavored drinks. Bromide is also prolific as methyl bromide, a pesticide that is often used in growing strawberries, and is used in asthma inhalers and anesthesia, in the production of plastic, mattresses, carpets, and flame-retardant fabrics, in the form of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and in bromine-based swimming pool and hot tub cleaning agents. Iodine as Bromide's Antidote: both iodine and bromide belong to the halogen group on the periodic table. Yet, iodine is the beneficial antidote to toxic halides. Due to competitive inhibition: Iodine and bromide compete for absorption and utilization in the body. And displacement: Iodine can displace bromide from tissues and organs, allowing it to be eliminated through the kidneys. When iodine reaches sufficient levels it will most likely make more cherry angiomas appear as the iodine begins to push out endocrine-disrupting bromides and other toxic halogens from the body. Thankfully, reaching iodine sufficiency shrinks these spots to tiny red pinprick-sized dots until they fade away.
