Woman shows up at our pop up today. Asks if we can vaccinate her bedbound father who lives nearby. Dr Truong and Dr Ou-Hingwan, amazing family physicians took a vaccine and went to his apartment. Vaccinated an elderly man on home oxygen. These our our heroes. @SHNcares 1/

Sadly we see this far too often in the Emergency department 😥
Let’s talk about why emergency departments are full. We’re going to use Mary as an example. Mary is a completely fictional patient. Let’s say Mary is 72. Her family doctor retired 5 years ago. She’s in the ED after a fall “weak and dizzy” (we see this a lot.)

@raghu_venugopal @preta_6 However, using the word “broken” means it can be fixed. And it needs to be fixed. ASAP. The system was bruised years ago. It’s broken now and our leaders need to act decisively now.

@raghu_venugopal @TOPublicHealth @epdevilla Agree 100%. One of the most frustrating things. Also takes awhile to get hold of someone. Would be great if patients could go to public health clinic next day instead of waiting hours in ED.

@davidcarr333 @OntariosDoctors @alandrummond2 @raghu_venugopal @allan_k_grillMD @petrosoniak @Kapur_AK @KatharineSmart The President often takes a year off from their clinical work or works minimally. Would narrow the pool of candidates to try to find someone for 2 years.
