I want to be very clear that what
@JDVance
said about Haitian immigrants this morning is straight up Nazi shit. When you accuse people of being savages who are 'not like us', that is the kind of thing that leads to pogroms and Tulsa and Rosewood.
Everyone should condemn it.
Hello

? I don't know who edited/signed off on this piece but it should not have been published. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ECTOPIC PREGNANCY DELIVERED. LITERALLY, NEVER. THEY ARE NOT VIABLE AND IF NOT REMOVED THE WOMAN WILL DIE. cc

Trump shares two sexualized insults directed at Kamala Harris in a week.
JD Vance tells her to 'go to hell'.
Trump's goons attack a woman employee of Arlington National Cemetery, who is afraid to file charges for frear of retaliation.
Hatred of women is their entire campaign.
Hi, if you're a white male White House reporter asking a Haitian American woman press secretary if making pet eating jokes is 'funny', you're just as much of a bigot as Trump & Vance are.
We have women flying to Colorado mid-miscarriage for an abortion so they don't die from sepsis in Texas so John Roberts can kiss my ass with his pearl clutch over 'respecting the Court's decisions'.
De-regulating the insurance market is how women with positive breast cancer screenings got kicked off their insurance before starting cancer treatment.
The choice was whether to go bankrupt or die.
JD Vance on what Trump's healthcare plan actually is: "Deregulating the insurance markets so that people can choose a plan that actually makes sense for them."
Here's what the male & Republicans pundits are missing about abortion as an 'issue': how deeply, profoundly personal it is to live in a female reproductive body and the challenges it presents.
Much of your life is spent trying not to get pregnant, trying to get pregnant,
I volunteer at a food bank in Lakewood that doesn't get any federal grants because it doesn't do means testing or income requirements. The philosophy is, if you sign up for a food bank, you need food and we'll help you.
All the rage American women have been feeling since Roe was overturned is about to be channelled behind Kamala Harris.
Trump campaign is not prepared for what's about to come.
And they will lose.
I know DeSantis and Florida have all the attention, but the absolute gutting of my alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin and the UT System, has been a wildly under covered story in the media.
@UTAustin
has long been considered a 'public Ivy'
I think Rep Jasmine Crockett has tapped into a zeitgeist among Democrats we've felt for a long time.
We're tired of being the adults in the room.
These are stupid, cruel, horrible people who want to destroy American democracy.
It's like trying to be polite to the Klan.
You're going to hear a lot of people telling you a Black woman can't be president. You'll hear people say America "just isn't ready."
America will get ready. Because Kamala Harris is how we're gonna beat that guy. Be not afraid.
My latest in

Just so everyone - reporters - are clear: a 15 week ban is NOT a later abortion ban.
It's just a national abortion ban.
Viability is 24 weeks, more than two months later.
All gestational abortion bans, whether 6 weeks or 15, or 20, are political, not medical.
Hi
@kwelkernbc
@MeetThePress
? Here's the appropriate response to Elise Stefanik lying on your show: "They're not hostages. They violently attacked the Capitol & have been convicted in a court of law. We saw it with our own eyes. You don't get to come on this show and lie."
I would encourage everyone in the media, academia, and public policy to read this from a far-right website. Conservatives are openly giving the game away for their plan to destroy higher education and implement white supremacy.
Actually, mifepristone is SAFER than penicillin, Viagra AND Tylenol.
A first trimester abortion is safer that laser eye surgery, colonoscopies, and vasectomies.
What's dangerous is crank politicians like you, not doctors and patients, making decisions about health care.
The abortion industry lies to women. They’ve told moms they need to choose between a child and a career. They’ve said chemical abortions are as safe as Tylenol.
These are lies.
The pro-life movement is focused on the truth—standing with every woman, for every child.
It should be a very big deal that
@JDVance1
, a sitting US Senator, said on a Sunday show he views the US Constitution he swore to uphold as nothing more than a piece of paper and he has every intention of violating it if it means keeping Trump in power.

is 🔥. There was a pregnant woman seated behind Boebert at the show who asked her to stop vaping. Boebert refused.

A hedge fund bought the company, sold off all the land Red Lobster restaurants are located on, leased the land back to Red Lobster, and jacked the rent. Just so you know what is really going on here
National press corps had a meltdown over Hillary's email and here's Trump's PAC Xeroxing classified documents onto their laptop and it's just another fucking Tuesday.
I know everyone is following the Boebert/Frisch race, but Dems picked up another seat they were expected to lose last night - Colorado's CD8, a new seat that's 40% Latino.
This was huge & deserves more attention. Dr Yadira Caraveo will be CO's 1st Latina in Congress.
#copolitics
Again - Kate Cox's fetal diagnosis was found at her amniocentesis test - WHICH IS DONE AFTER 15 WEEKS.
This is why a 15 week abortion ban as a 'compromise' is political, not medical, and completely idiotic.
Y'ALL. The Vice President of the United States said the words 'abortion care', 'contraception care', 'uterus', and
'fibroids' out loud in front of the TV cameras today after visiting an abortion clinic in Minneapolis.
Who we elect - electing women - MATTERS.
For those who are newly following me, I work with an abortion rights group here in Colorado that also runs an abortion fund. We have seen a deluge of patients from Texas, many in severe medical, emotional, & financial distress - miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, etc.
Congratulations to
@GuyFieri
for completely trashing his brand by gripping & grinning with Trump last night. Your audience/fan base isn't Trumpers, bruh.
It's hilarious to see the 'we need to let the voters decide' argument in response to the Colorado Supreme Court.
We did that. We let the voters decide. Biden won.
And Trump refused to accept the results & sent a violent mob to overturn it.
That's the whole point of the case.
Every now and then I think of the quiet dignity of Dr Christine Blasey Ford in contrast to the drunken thuggery of Brett Kavanaugh and I'm reminded all over again how much this country hates women and how much I hate Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and Donald Trump.
Serious question: if the New York Times, Politico, and the Washington Post are actively protecting Trump with a double standard, why should VP Harris do an interview with them?
The idea that you as a woman have no control over your situation because some rando politician named JimmyJoeJimBob thinks he knows better what to do about it than you and your doctor do is terrifying and enraging.
You know, after the Texas Attorney General literally sued to keep Kate Cox from having an abortion so she wouldn't die, I'm pretty certain the burden of proof is on Republicans to prove they wouldn't do that to every woman in America.
#Project2025
The personal is the political. And it doesn't get much more personal, or political, than the right to control your own body, manage your own mental health, and to determine the course of your own life.
Stay mad and vote, y'all.
or worried that you are pregnant and figuring out what to do about it.
As I put it, one in four American women has had an abortion and most of the rest of us have, at some point, peed on a stick in a bathroom and bargained with God.
You will never in your life have a doctor at your 20 week ultrasound get very quiet and then say, "now we need to talk about your legal options."
You're not a woman. You're not an ObGyn. You have no idea what you're talking about.
An abortion ban is an abortion ban.
Abortion may not have played a role in keeping Space Command in Colorado.
But the fact remains it is exponentially safer for a woman to be pregnant in Colorado than it is Alabama.
And that *should* matter.
Pregnancy loss is extremely common and under-discussed - 10-20% of known pregnancies end in miscarriage. Pregnancy itself, even in the year 2022, is exponentially more dangerous than an abortion. It's especially risky for women of color.
Means testing and work requirements for needy folks to get food are stupid and accomplish nothing. They just put unnecessary barriers in front of people. And even if a few people do take advantage, so what? You're gonna begrudge them apples and potatoes and tuna fish?
And I have friends who have had totally ordinary, non-traumatic abortions because it wasn't the right time for them to become a parent.
Every reason to have an abortion is the right reason.
You just mocked President Biden for signing a Parkinson's bill with a woman, Rep Jennifer Wexton, who is resigning from Congress because she has an accelerated form of it standing next to him, because it was her bill.
The sheer amount of conspiracy thinking on the left at this moment is deeply unhealthy. Example: All the people who seem convinced that CNN and other media orgs are trying to ruin Biden and reelect Trump. In reality, news outlets are merely trying to report the news.
"CO's laws take into account complex, often devastating, sometimes dangerous circumstances that lead people to seek abortion later in pregnancy. Without a maternal or fetal indication for abortion, a healthy woman w a healthy full-term pregnancy would not be offered this option."
I have friends who have miscarried early in pregnancy. I have friends who have lost babies at 12 weeks. I have friends who have had later abortions due to a Trisomy 18 diagnosis & an ultrasound that showed blank spaces where the baby's organs should have been.
This thread here has blown up, so thanks.
If you want to make a difference, 2 things: VOTE, and contribute to the Cobalt Abortion Fund,
Colorado is an oasis in the middle of the country for abortion care, & demands on the Fund have exploded since Dobbs.
Every abortion rights campaign I've ever worked on ends up at some point in a group discussion of periods, cramps, birth control, pregnancy, birth stories, menopause, hormones, and every variation thereof.
What's amazing about the media pile on calling on Biden to withdraw is that they didn't do it when Trump was found liable for rape or when was convicted on 34 felony counts or even when he ran after Jan 6.
The media's moral compass is broken.
And bluntly, if you're a woman or a young person of color, why would you want to go to
@utaustin
in a state that bans abortion and University system that just elevated white supremacy?
.
@jmart
going to say this directly to you: Trump did this. There is nothing Joe Biden or Hunter Biden can do that is remotely in the same moral ballpark. And I am sick & tired of the media trying to make it so because they learned nothing from 2016.
Just got reminded that the Republican Attorney General of South Dakota killed a man with his car so violently that the victim's face busted through the windshield & left his glasses on the front seat.
And the the Republican AG of South Dakota is still in office.
.
@semaforben
Hi Ben. Your dismissal of Olivia Nuzzi's grotesque ethics violation as 'Dems mad about Biden' is so sexist and insulting to the many professional women journalists I have worked with over the years I'm not sure where to start.
I also want to call bullshit on
@JohnCornyn
for suggesting what happened to Amanda Zurawski was somehow her doctors' fault, not the Texas abortion ban that resulted from Republicans like him overturning Roe.
As Amanda put it, the Texas abortion ban is working exactly as intended.
Sometimes the best questions are the most obvious. The fact that no one in journalism - not the Washington Post, not the New York Times, not NPR, not any national legal reporter - bothered to ask whether the plaintiff in '303 Creative' actually existed is frankly shocking.
and one of the finest research universities in the country. Greg Abbott and the Republican legislators are ending tenure and blowing up DEI. And President JC Hartzell, Chancellor JB Milliken, and the UT Regents haven't said a damn word.
I'm not wondering if a Black South Asian woman can win the Presidency.
I'm wondering how the fck a convicted criminal & adjudicated rapist who tried to violently overthrow an election he lost is even competitive.
Have people lost their damn minds?
Court filing yesterday revealed someone associated with Trump's PAC was *scanning classified documents* onto a non-secure Trump PAC laptop from a stash he still had in his bedroom at Mar a Lago after the first FBI raid.
No front page. Didn't even merit an article.
Then-Chancellor Bill McRaven publicly opposed concealed carry on campus. These clowns are utterly worthless and it's shocking. Between this and the abortion ban I am actively discouraging young people from going to UT.
Air transports out of Idaho, which has a near-total abortion ban, for pregnancy complications at one of the state’s largest hospitals have increased from one in all of 2023 to six in the past four months.

With the vomitous sexism during the EMTALA case yesterday, Harvey Weinstein's rape conviction getting reversed, and the absolute dumpster fire at SCOTUS this morning, women voters need to burn this place to ground in November.
If Alyson McClaran's photo of a Denver health care worker standing calmly in front of a screaming Trumper is the enduring image from this weekend, I'm good with that.
There is something mentally and morally broken at the New York Times Editorial section. They helped Trump win in 2016 and they're trying to do it again.
Meanwhile the farmer's market my stepdad works on has stopped taking SNAP coupons because the paperwork to buy a few dollars worth of fruit and vegetables was too much for a mostly volunteer-run farmer's market.
House majority leader Steve Scalise called Netanyahu and said he supports any Israeli decision regarding a retaliation against Iran, the Israeli Prime Minister office said. Netanyahu told Scalise that Israel will do whatever it needs to defend itself
One of the Drs I work with had a Texas patient whose ectopic pregnancy ruptured en route.
So yes, the multiple abortion bans in Texas weigh heavily on my thinking & outlook, because I see the consequences here in Colorado where abortion is legal and protected in state law.
The SCOTUS EMTALA arguments this morning weren't just wrong, they were insulting.
We had a clueless, arrogant, mansplaining 33 year old Idaho dudebro, paired with Justice Alito making it clear he thinks women are little more than holding vessels for a fetus.
What Trump was convicted of wasn't a 'victimless crime'. He falsified business records to affect the outcome of the 2016 election.
And now women in Texas and other abortion ban states are suffering because of what he did.
MORE: A witness connected to Trump’s Save America PAC scanned and stored documents from the box containing those materials on a laptop provided by the PAC, per Howell’s opinion.
Nebraska State Sen. Steve Halloran (R-Hastings) is facing bipartisan calls to resign after he interjected a colleague's name into a reading of a graphic rape scene multiple times.
SEN. MACHAELA CAVANAUGH (D): "I didn't know you were capable of such cruelty."
quoting someone anonymously to protect them: "...faculty at UT Austin are furious that our leadership and BOT have completely abandoned us and our students. Zero communication throughout the entire session while pretending to have our backs."
Pre-Obamacare, friend of mine was denied insurance for domestic violence as a pre-existing condition because she went to the ER after he beat her. I've seen the denial letter.
@revhowardarson
Zoomers straight up do not believe me when I describe pre-ACA health insurance practices like policy rescission, exclusions on preexisting conditions, and lifetime limits.
Journalists: please stop saying the horrors we're seeing because of abortion bans are 'unintended consequences'.
The trauma, both physical & emotional, is entirely intentional.
Abortion bans are about power, not life, and demoralization is a part of exercising that power.
Hi
@nytimes
? Trump's housing 'plan' of mass deportations is no different than a lot of people in Berlin with nice new apartments wondering where the neighbors went.
Yes, Kate Cox could probably travel to another state for an abortion because she has the means to do so. She is fighting for the women who don't, like Miranda Michel, and that is why she is so brave.
@BudrykZack
I have a smallpox vaccine scar & you don't. They stopped giving smallpox vaccines in the mid-1970s & it was declared eradicated in May, 1980. One of the deadliest & most ancient human diseases - they've found smallpox scars on Egyptian mummies - was eradicated thanks to vaccines.
Not only is Colorado better for national security, we also have voter access and didn't openly defy the Supreme Court on voting rights for Black people.
Have all the seats, Granny.
The White House choosing to not locate Space Command Headquarters in Alabama – the rightful selection – is very simply the wrong decision for national security. The fact that a CNN reporter is who first delivered the news to Alabama should say all.
"It’s absolutely unbelievable to see our lack of leadership and apparent endorsement of blatant white supremacy. The damage won’t be controlled, in part because it was also caused by our supposed leaders.
What gets me after these harrowing stories of Texas women watching their babies suffer and die shortly after birth & the trauma of them nearly dying from a septic miscarriage the state's lawyers *tried to make the women say it was their fault*.
Fucking monsters.
A Washington Post columnist, writing about the Kate Cox case, said she believes abortion opponents hold "sincere beliefs" & have moral underpinnings.
No. If anything, the past year has exposed how fundamentally immoral the anti-abortion movement is and how much it hates women.
"...The self destruction is really shocking. It’s clear that the lege has no idea what they are doing and have been told by the conservative think tanks that they can do these things without any problem and everything will be fine.
My advice to Democrats, after a day and a half of discussion on my feed, is that Democrats should punch back *hard* at the 'abortion until birth' lie put forth by Republicans like Chris Christie & Tim Scott.
Not only is it a lie, it's insulting.
Folks, please stop with this. It's not helpful, it's elitist, and it's victim blaming. Women can't just up uproot and move.
Nor should they have to. That's the point. We should have the right to control our own body no matter where we live.
Kristen Welker, by all accounts, is a very good person and beloved by her colleagues. But the decision by NBC News executives to platform terrorist Donald Trump failed her, failed journalism, and failed the country.
If pro-lifers were truly 'pro-life', after Dobbs they would have publicly lobbied Republicans for Medicaid expansion, family leave, improved access to birth control, child nutrition programs like WIC, and the child tax credit.
They did none of those things.
Just so everyone understands how batshit crazy this is, here's an article on diphtheria, the D in the TDAP vaccine.
It killed millions of children who literally choked to death as their throats swelled and closed.
Again, something a lot of people don't get about why abortion is such a white-hot issue for women voters: most women I know who have kids have been pregnant more times than they have living children. The idea some politician should be a part of that experience is rage-inducing.
This is from the *student newspaper* at the University of Florida. And it deserves amplification.
Ben Sasse's moral sanctimony was an act - he's crooked as the rest of them.
This is an absolutely bonkers story about how former Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse has spent millions of dollars as U of Florida's new president hiring his former staffers for made-up, insanely high paid *remote* jobs at the university.
