I was taught in medical school that diabetes is chronic and progressive. Look at the improvement in blood sugars in this patient - no medications, just lifestyle! Doesn't look chronic and progressive to me. We need to provide the right education. Join us starting Tuesday Nov 5th 5:30 EST for a free series with everything you need to know about diabetes and how to improve or reverse your disease!

We must not settle for the current outcomes in those with type 1 diabetes. Multiple studies have now been published showing the power of low-carb in type 1 diabetes thanks to @AKoutnik . We must support those who choose low-carb and offer it as an option for all. @OfficialADSOrg @AmDiabetesAssn @AmerAcadPeds @TheSMHP @drericwestman @DoctorTro
My son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 8. I wished I had known about @LauraBuchananMD ’s talk. Instead, my son’s medical team betrayed us and recommended a high carb diet. More carbs in fact than what he ate before his diagnosis. What they did to my son and hundreds of thousands of type 1 kids is criminal. If your kid is diagnosed, please learn about therapeutic carbohydrate restriction. It might save your kids life and health. @TheSMHP @lowcarbusa @bigfatsurprise @garytaubes @AmDiabetesAssn @OfficialADSOrg @DikemanDave

This is the best motivation to keep working. Recently at a 9 month follow up visit, a patient had maintained a 50 lb weight loss through a low-carb lifestyle. What’s more exciting is what he said: “this is the best money I’ve ever spent. I’ve added years to my life.” This is exactly my goal - add years to people’s lives and help improve quality of life through lifestyle changes🙌🤗

Definitely worth a listen, great truth and talent combined!
WHO says meat causes cancer?!🍖 Once upon a time, I wrote a festive poem inspired by How the Grinch Stole Christmas. But in this version, the villain isn’t the Grinch —it’s the WHO (yes, that WHO) and their infamous anti-meat proclamation. 📜 Through rhyme and reason (and a sprinkle of humor), I share the real story behind the WHO’s claims about #redmeat and health. Hit play and let’s roast some myths!

@AKoutnik The link goes to the "Changing Conversation about Type 2 Diabetes" - I do not see the one for Type 1 Diabetes? Is there another link to the guideline? Thank you!

Happy to report another wonderful patient success using a low-carb lifestyle. After 1 month: off 6 medications with better mood than when on anxiety medication. Do not underestimate the power of lifestyle change and the importance of what you eat. #lowcarb

@ChrisPalmerMD have you seen SSRIs cause stuttering? If so, have you seen the stuttering resolve after slowly tapering off of them? Or if there was benefit from keto?

Women diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) before age 10 have a nearly 18 year shorter lifespan than their non-diabetic counterparts, men 14 years. On average, with our current treatment recommednations, those with T1D have an A1c of ~8%. These statistics are unacceptable. We have to do a better job as a medical profession helping those with T1D. In an observational study, over 300 subjects with T1D consuming a very low carbohydrate diet (VLCD) were able to maintain an average A1c of 5.67%. Seeing outcomes like this is exciting and should motivate patients and clinicians to consider a trial of a VLCD while waiting for the much needed larger studies to be done. This position statement is a huge step in bringing awareness to another treatment option with the potential to reverse these striking outcomes.
1/ 🚨 Big news for #Type1Diabetes: The Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners @TheSMHP has published its position on Therapeutic Carbohydrate Reduction (TCR) as a viable, evidence-based option for improving glycemic control. Here's why this matters... 🧵
