Horizon Forbidden West loads so fast on the PS5's SSD that developer Guerilla Games actually had to deliberately slow them down in order to provide players enough time to read the loading screen tool tips.
Game Informer has been closed down by GameStop and the entire, incredibly talented staff (including myself) have all been laid off. A frustrating turn of events (especially considering we were about 70% done with the next issue and it was going to have a GREAT cover).
The weirdest thing about the Dreamcast, based on my experience with the console exclusively at a neighbor’s house, is how Sega made the disc art for all releases just the game’s title written in sharpie on a burned disc.
Here's an official, final letter from the editor statement from former-Game Informer editor-in-chief Matt Miller (who doesn’t use this website because he is a smart, sane person).
I was laid off from Game Informer this morning which was surprising and heartbreaking. Writing for the magazine gave me some of the best experiences of my life. I absolutely adore everyone I worked with and consider them genuine friends.
I am happy to share that I am returning to
@GameInformer
to take over the magazine content director role! Today is my (second) first day and I am very excited to be working with familiar folks again, as well as new folks that I haven't had the privilege of working with yet.
I will forever be proud of my decade of work there and grateful that I got to be part of its legacy. In the short term, I am sure you will catch me more over at
@MinnMaxShow
, and for the long term... I am looking for work!
After writing reviews for Game Informer for eight years, writing something for
@IGN
was unexpectedly terrifying, but I am very excited to have a byline on the site, and Sayonara Wild Hearts is a cool video game.
I don’t remember why or how we became Facebook friends. I interviewed him once at an E3. I doubt I left an impression. But, without fail, ever year for the last five or so years,
@Swery65
has been the first person to wish me happy birthday. It’s always delightful.
Happy to share that I will be joining local Minneapolis games publisher
@GameMillEnt
later this month! I’ll be doing marketing, social media stuff, and more, which will be a new career direction for me, but I’m eager to get started!
God of War Ragnarök's free Valhalla DLC was so good that they should have had the option to leave a tip to the developers pop up after the credits rolled.
We can finally confirm that
@SamLakeRMD
wasn't lying to us back in 2015,
@BenjaminReeves
. Hopefully Alan Wake 2 finally answers the follow-up question.
Dealing with my post-layoff emotions the same way everyone does: waking up at 5:30 a.m. and entering the 260-digit Golden Sun transfer code from your GBA playthrough of the first game into the Switch version of The Lost Age.
Started a new part-time job today.
I will be working with
@thorium_ent
on the upcoming
@undermine_game
! Will be helping with PR, community, and social media – all kinds of fun stuff. I am excited to get started!
Announcing UnderMine 2! ⛏️
Building on the best aspects of UnderMine, an acclaimed action-adventure roguelike, UnderMine 2 takes dungeon crawling to a whole new level!

One time at an E3,
@DanRyckert
convinced a stranger I was Phil Fish without telling me, and when they walked up to me and said they were a giant fan of Fez I said, "Yeah, me too. Love that game."
The Shadows of the Empire superfan in me is having a great time with Star Wars: Outlaws. Playing a third-person scoundrel who has their own spaceship and occasionally hops on a speeder is just what I want from Star Wars video games, apparently.
And thanks to
@ashleygodbold
and our kid (who I am excited to be stay-at-home for!) who are really doing their best to make feel better about all this.
Started Control and it said the batteries were low in my controller, which is funny because Alan Wake was always dealing with low batteries and, uh... I don’t know where I’m going with this. I’ve been away from twitter for awhile. I like Control so far. Is this good/insightful?
I’m going to start a regular stream tomorrow. It’s a weird one to start with, but I’m going to play through Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel. Help me beat it! I’ll be streaming on Twitch () and YouTube () starting at 11 a.m. CT.

If 24 years ago you told me I’d be playing Yoshi’s Island next to a McDonald’s playplace on a device I brought in my pocket I would have said, “Aren’t there cooler, newer games you should be playing that I don’t even know exist yet?”
Hey there! I am excited to announce that I have joined
@RideHomeMedia
to spearhead a daily, 15-minute podcast about video games called the
@GamingRideHome
podcast.
Welcome to MinnMax! This is a place for games, friends, and getting better. Please support us on Patreon so that we can stick together and make some great stuff with the community!
Fun fact about this little montage. I thought I was only capturing gameplay. Didn’t realize my mic was on, which is why at about :39 seconds I inexplicably say, “Soufflé pancake?” It was because my kid came into my office and asked me, “What’s a soufflé pancake?”
Using a TV remote to input an e-mail address and password for a streaming app is probably one of my all time favorite activities. I almost want to get the password wrong the first time just so I can prolong the experience.
About 10 years ago
@ashleygodbold
said Skyward Sword would someday release without motion controls. Like a big stupid jerk, I said she was wrong. We bet if it ever did, I would have to tell the internet I am the dumbiest of all dummies and she knows more about video games than I.
They really nailed this detail about piling up furniture in front of the stairs every night before bed. We all do it, of course, but I rarely see it represented in media.
With the new system update on
#NintendoSwitch
, you are now able to wirelessly transfer photos and videos from your Nintendo Switch to a smartphone for easier sharing!
Hey person at the gym who turned my Switch into the front desk after I eagerly sprinted out in my excitement that I was no longer riding a stationary bike – I appreciate it. I like my Switch a lot, but it also has my kid's Pokémon Sword save file on it, so I'm extra grateful.
Recently had my last day at
@GameSpot
. It was a great experience! Everyone there is fantastic and I’m rooting for the Fandom transition to go well and be a good fit. The Fandom news was surprising, but was not a factor in my decision to leave.
Had “the talk” with my daughter tonight after she took the controller from me in Watch Dogs: Legion. I told her trees, in open-world games, are absolutely impenetrable, but everything else is basically fair game. It’s just something we’ve all accepted without question.
Going to skip streaming today. Just feeling anxious with everything happening in Minnesota right now. Please consider donating to the

, and please, please register to vote.

My daughter said this tweet is funny because they usually say sad and scary things in Star Wars like, “The world is going to end and we have to depend on you,” but this is a happy thing to say.
I’ve really been enjoying revisiting Skyward Sword! I’m about 15 hours in and I keep picking up these green diamond-shaped things. I don’t know what they are.
It only took me about 19 years, a handful of false starts, and a Game Boy Advance being stolen from me when I was at the end boss, but I finally beat Golden Sun.
I was trying to get a screenshot of this billboard for a hilarious tweet about Tony Hawk taking place in the Death Stranding universe, but I got hit by a car.
