Yes, and my primary reaction: "It must be just some kind of contamination 🤷" made me realise that there was always a tiny little pessimist hiding inside of me 😂
I haven't made a submission to any of the major AI conferences myself yet (only workshops, but not too frequently) 😌, and I still got an incredible job 💼💻 with an incredible team 👩💻🧑💻 working on incredible projects👩🔬👨🔬. So if this applies to you, too, keep calm & don't panic😇
Someone once told me that they love to cancel plans with their friends by responding “can’t go out, I’m enjoying my rent / making my rent’s worth” and that’s what soothes my mind every time I have a lazy evening at home ever since🧘♀️
Unlike most PhDs, I grew up socioeconomically disadvantaged. Neither of my parents went to college
