People use the "it's just PVE" as am excuse and of course that's true to am extent but weapons still need to be reigned in unless we get power creep.
If some weapons are too strong, new monsters have to be given things to compensate for it, which makes the mid weapons even worse

Why do some of you care if long sword is OP? I mean it's a PVE game and if you don't like it you don't have to play it, I guess it could be annoying for multi-player but isn't it a good thing that a grind ends faster?

The old games aren't much harder, they just take a very different set of skills (patience, positioning, preparation) than what modern games as a whole encourage (reflexes, reactivity, optimization)
