Played one of these today. Holy shit! I'm sure they're not nearly as well built as the originals, but "that sound" is there. The volume will simply blow a 100W Marshall full stack away. Weighs 80lbs. Brash clean volume levels. Over the top everything. Fantastic!

Of th four options I was considering in my post last week, the Oxblood Figured Top Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s will be the chosen one. Worked the dealer down to $2300, so that is definitely a win. I should receive it sometime next week.

A lot of P90 comments about this guitar. Here you go. That's what a P90 sounds like. Fatter than a standard single coil and more growl than a humbucker. The bottom end tends to be really loose on P90s.

Finally got a good picture of her.
I will say there is something about a vintage voiced neck pickup in a Les Paul. No matter how much gain you use, there is no hard bite. It is velvety smooth. Very nice tone.

My new treasure. 1967 Gibson B25 in Cherry Sunburst. 100% original, including the rosewood saddle. I was ready to do a lot of work on it, but it needs nothing. Even the relief and action are perfect.

A bitchin' guitar riff that to me, sounds even better on an acoustic guitar! Singing the chorus is above my pay grade. I can only do the low harmony and that sounds like ass by itself (at least when I do it...a lead singer, I am not so yes, even the verse is rough at best).

That last sentence is huge and I have advised that for years. Cost is not so important but you have to have someone guide you past horrible fret work, improper neck profiles and terrible playability. Learning on a guitar that plays like ass is very discouraging.

This is a great post! There's some very helpful music theory in there if you look at the individual notes for each key. Look at the difference between the maj and min keys? Tells you a lot.
Supported tunings for guitar. Maybe it will be useful for someone 👍🏻✌🏻

I have no doubt whatsoever that there are far more Dems than there are GOP in TX. Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austinand El Paso are overwhelmingly Dem but the gerrymandered districts are built into the TX machine totally in favor of the GOP.

Very smooth jazz tune that wanders freely. The destination here is more important than the journey. When it really kicks in, we are treated to the genius that is Steve Gadd and a drum solo that leaves the listener speechless. Just wow!

One of the most bitchin' riffs of all time. John Sykes is a master of killer riffs and monster tones. He uses gobs of chorus, which is sorta outside my taste, but Sykes uses it to perfection.

A hard jazz be-bop formulated into a pop masterpiece. Michael McDonald's baritone perfection in the insane chorus composition shines. The real winner is Jay Graydon's guitar solo. He's so far ahead of the beat, it's almost frantic yet so perfect!
