Charles, if you’re familiar with the European system, as it sounds like, then you know that the best, smartest, and most expensive cabinet brands in the world use particleboard/melamine. Not just Ikea which you seem fixated on. They don’t consider the product disposable. The 32 mm system, among other things, has to be absolutely flat. Plywood is not flat. It also differs dimensionally piece by piece. I’m sure you know that too. Lastly, there’s a reason why no company at worldwide scale uses it. It doesn’t scale. So does it work for one-offs like you’re specifically referring to. Sure. It also works for medium and larger cabinet shops. But that’s only in the US. And I hate to break it to you about another thing: we’re not nearly as smart as we think we are. The rest of the cabinetry world might be onto something.

Charles who was formally a lawyer but hated it and now maybe sells real estate: I’m sure you made a few kitchens in your day. Congratulations. So have I. Trust me, it’s not any great accomplishment. What I’m trying to explain is: throughout the rest of the world, with the greatest technology and access to resources at their disposal, the smartest and best manufacturers in the world work with particleboard and melamine every single day. I I’m sorry to blow your mind.

@michael_janiak @Shopify Thanks,Michael. My concern is with some of our orders which should technically be parcel, because of minimums they’re getting an LTL rate which is outrageously high. And I’m afraid we’re losing people because of it.

@ConorKenny @JamoVentures That is just standard three-quarter inch trim paneling. They’ve done a much more built-in look than most people, including running it along the top.

@ConorKenny @JamoVentures Hi Conor, losing me a little bit with some of the technical terms. If you’re asking, did we also make the end caps on the island, we did not. That’s sourced from somebody Custom.

Problem is,” just asking questions” is a cop out - especially when you blast your million-plus followers with something that gets debunked a few hours later. Multiple times now. Then say “Woopsie, no harm no foul.” If that’s Citizen Journalism, then it’s as irresponsible as lots of the mainstream stuff.
