White women, we have GOT to stop this gaslighting, racist behavior. Amy Roost has a history of this, I’ve witnessed it before, but she is one of many out there inserting her white self into spaces explicitly not for us...and then complaining when called on it.
I am really tired of white women’s tears. After an absurd email exchange w/ this woman last night, I’m hearing that she’s posting to FB, selectively editing our communication to paint herself as a victim and attack my “professionalism”. I will not have it, & I’m not here to play.

My Covid experience so far: fully vaxxed & boosted, always masked indoors in public, no indoor socializing outside of immediate family, no indoor dining, movies, or concerts. First Covid symptom on 12/30, positive rapid on 12/31, started paxlovid 12/31, positive PCR 1/1 (1/?)

HAPPY VALLEY and LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX, both starring Sarah Lancashire. The tone of these shows is quite different, but I love them equally. Last Tango features romantic relationships between older characters which I feel like we never get to see.

A strange joy: my rejections are getting more positive! A few years ago, a dream pub sent a generic rejection. Last night, same pub sent a rejection that said they enjoyed reading my piece, would love to read more of my work, and encouraged me to submit again. I'm getting closer.

I’m an alum (JD ‘99) and former faculty. I’ve been to the encampment each day and have witnessed the greatest sense of true community and caring that I’ve ever seen at the UW. These students are wise and their moral compass is in tune. The UW would be smart to follow their lead.

Our family did so much to avoid Covid. We are some of the most cautious people any of our friends or family know. We mask everywhere in public. Now, two of the three of us have gotten it in the past few months. Recovery has taken weeks each time, w/ significant isolation (5/?)

I write & write but never submit my work. Keep thinking I need to learn a *little* more craft before I'm ready to start sending stuff out. Pretty sure that's bullshit, tho —that submitting, being rejected, revising, & maybe even getting something published will teach me so much.

Dog diagnosed w/ pneumonia, gets IV abx + fluids + pain meds etc; comes home & we convalesce together. We are both improving, slowly, but it’s day 16 and I am still quite sick (severe fatigue & upper resp issues) and I am still testing positive. Day 16. (4/?)

I miss Ovens of Brittany so much! Monroe Street, State Street—all of the locations. Oh, and I miss the movie theaters that used to be at Hilldale (where Target is now) and Westgate. Both played films you couldn't always find at the mainstream theaters.

Celebrating my 53rd birthday with first negative Covid test since symptoms started on 12/30. Husband & I got to see each other w/o masks and had lunch together in our kitchen. Truly delighted by these small things. ♥️ Tomorrow I even get to see my kid!

Perhaps the best part of parenting so far is when your kid hits their early 20s & you realize just how much you genuinely like, enjoy, & respect them as a person, an entity entirely separate from yourself. Like, wow, I'd want to be friends w/ them were I not already their mom.
