@NeilShenvi Doug Wilson actually wrote a book (Rules for Reformers) in which he explicitly urged "Christians engaged in the culture war" to follow a version of Alinsky's strategy. (Disclaimer: I haven't read it.)

@AugustineOfMA The Orthodox Study Bible—Saint Athanasius Academy Septuagint translation for the OT, and the NKJV for the NT. It's less than perfect, but serves the purpose well enough.

@CarolinaChristn The same people who say this, say similar things about the Eucharist in Eastern Orthodox churches—so it sounds awfully familiar: "You're a bunch of heretical idolaters! And besides, you're schismatic, because you won't commune at my church and won't let me commune at yours!"

@testing521 It's an Evangelical/Reformed alternative to the broadly popular RSV. It used the RSV text as a base while changing certain controversial translation choices such as "young woman" in Isaiah 7:14 RSV (cf. "virgin" in the ESV as well as most pre-RSV English versions).

@John_Barach @_feastofsteven @DrJordanBCooper It's only a rabbit trail if one has made a prior choice of your presuppositions as opposed to mine. Arians are excluded from the one Body for the same reason that Iconoclasts are: an Ecumenical Council judged that their teachings & practices are contrary to orthodox Christology.

@John_Barach @_feastofsteven @DrJordanBCooper It's true that the OP had to do with differences between Lutherans and Reformed. @MetzUAC1530 , as an Augsburg Catholic a.k.a. Lutheran, you liked this post I made. Would you care to comment about what John is saying here?
@John_Barach @MetzUAC1530 @DrJordanBCooper As long as we don't have a theology in common, we can't even give a common answer to the question, "Are we one?" Which demonstrates that the answer is "no." And there is deep grief in that acknowledgement.

@John_Barach @_feastofsteven @DrJordanBCooper The same church that excommunicated Arians at First Nicea, also excommunicated Iconoclasts at Second Nicea.

@John_Barach @_feastofsteven @DrJordanBCooper (NB: Sadly, the two Sees of Peter were divided at the Great Schism. Peter's 2nd see, Rome, went its own way with its western dependencies; meanwhile his 1st see, Antioch, stayed in communion with the remainder of the Apostolic churches—this is the Church that I belong to now.)

@IacobRuthenicus I tend to be pro-UOC, and Popovich sounds like a real Ukrainian patriot and Christian hero.
