Once you get past the main line, the rest of the panhandle looks like a post-apocalyptic hellscape. Sorry about the bugs on the windshield. It happens when it is 85 degrees in….*checks notes*….February.

You really can’t imagine the scale. Wide-angle video just doesn’t capture what you can see in person. I positioned for the southward surge as the cold front moved across the main body of the fire. I was not disappointed. #okwx #txwx #okfire #txfire

Holy smokes. This is exactly why I ran when that wall of smoke and flame started pushing south. There was no time to do anything if you got caught in there. I can’t imagine being stuck on a dirt road when this comes through. Nightmare fuel.

How fast did the Texas wildfires move…? This is security camera footage from Dan and Kay Gatlin who’s ranch house was between Briscoe and Canadian, Texas. 50MPH winds fueled this fire and is the type of conflagration that goes until it burns itself out.

@225MPH_EF4 Dude, after 25 years of chasing and sucking at it for the first 10, yes. I still have that feeling every year. But sometimes you’ll botch some chases and some years there just won’t be anything to chase. Just keep going and tell yourself to shut up and chase.

@kimster_giggles The storms prior to this one were more LP in nature, and the outflow kept outpacing the inflow, cutting off the updraft and killing the storms, as seen here.
