For 1 doctors dont have this info.2 certain criteria has to be met and in case of trauma more times than not this would disqualify a potential donor so its in the doctors best interest to save the patient

When UNM neurosurgery lost its accreditation in 2019, they lost 8 residents. The university had to hire 23 APPs to replace them. Terrible take.

@epigeekGab I’m interested in knowing the purpose of this. Most MDs doing research are interested in things that come up in their practice that otherwise haven’t been and wouldn’t be studied others do it as a requirement but not many are thinking groundbreaking unless opportunity arises.

@AlovDav @UnclePhilippe @mlatriceh One could make that argument if they had the data to back it up. I would counter argue that according UNOS(organ donation people) in 2018 alone Caucasians contributed 65 % of all organ donation vs only 16% by African Americans. Which is about 306% more.

@olsonplanner There’s no standardization of what each in house lecturer emphasizes so what the boards want you to know could be (and usually is) completely different than what your professors, who are often times PhD’s PharmD’s etc, want you to know about their specific area of expertise.

@olsonplanner That network will be there regardless of where they attend so long as they make the effort to keep it. There’s also no guarantee they stick with the same specialty. Go to the cheaper school. Work hard, get the same outcome for 160k cheaper.

A physician will do everything in their power to save your life. And in the event that you don’t make it, you could save many more.

@KoodaB I got multiple division 1 football scholarships after playing just one year of varsity in high school. Went to college for free now I’m a doctor. It can be done but it will take a lot of hard work on his part as well as some luck. Might want to start saving just in case! Lol

I have stayed neutral on this topic until I experienced it myself but I can now say with 100% confidence residents do not get paid nearly enough for what we do and the hours we put in. I think it’s time to move away from salary base and just get paid a fair hourly rate.

Just finished @MyronRolle book The 2% Way. It was easily in the top 5 best books Ive ever read. I wish I had the wisdom it entails back when I was playing college football. The internal struggle of scholar vs athlete was huge for me. However as an M4 it still spoke to me greatly.

I just sent an email to the chair of orthopedic surgery at uams asking him to shadow him. not expecting a response at all just one of those "ehh why not" type of things. He emailed me back in 2 minutes saying he would be glad for me to come. 2018 already starting out right.

These floods are truly insane. This family in Conway, Arkansas used more than 10,000 sandbags to keep several feet of water from taking over their home. Their house has become and island. The only way in and out is by boat. @THV11 @tvtomee

One thing that I found that has worked well for me is only study when I’m being 100% effecient. So if I’m overwhelmed and I need to take an hour/the day I will with no guilt. With the absolute promise to myself that I’m going to kill it the next time I sit down to study.
