@0tto_t @memizon @HornimanMuseum John Horniman's daughter Annie knew Mathers from the Order of the Golden Dawn. When her father needed a curator for his museum which at that time was contained in his home (on the same site) she recommended Mathers.

@memizon @HornimanMuseum Happy to oblige. It's one of very few art nouveau buildings in the UK. @HornimanMuseum

@notgwendalupe Body switching movies all derive from a single source, F.Anstey's Vice Versa of 1882 where a father and son switch bodies after dad wishes he could be a schoolboy again while holding a magic Indian stone.

@woofknight A zombie is a body without a soul; a ghost is a soul without a body. Mixing them up makes them confused.

@TomABacon A factor you may want to consider is that riots were dealt with successfully by the police in the early 1980s and 2011 but unsuccessfully by the army 1969-98 in Northern Ireland.

@chandos64 @CL_Meadows Similarly, I used to hear 'He made them and He matched them' as a child.

Once I wrote the entire first chapter of a novel with a soft pencil. I would resharpen it every day and work till it was blunt. By the time the chapter was finished I could hardly hold the tiny stub. Never done it before or since, or know why I did it then.

Why do people/commentators etc calling for "the Army" to be sent in to deal with public disorder assume they have the training, equipment, and readiness to do so at scale? Also be careful what you wish for because soldiers are not the police. The job would get done but it wouldn't be pretty.

@WriterLDavis In my experience it has long since declined to the point where publishers expect agents to do the editing before they receive a manuscript.

@NinaAntonia13 But I still remember them, 50 years later, after having viewed them once. That's real dramatic power.

@sarahsky23 Knowing how these recommendations/puffs are obtained, I am very sceptical of them and don't give them any credit in my decision to read a book.
