If they can get a doctor to perform it in them! How many times do doctors refuse because "you might want kids" or "your future husband might wants kids." Seriously, I've heard women who went to 6 different doctors trying to get their tubes tied in their 20s and being denied.
I had an elderly poor client approach me for help in filing an eviction. She said she read everything about it and tried to file it 4 times by herself before coming to me.
I've filed it with a waiver of fees and it has been returned to me no less than 5 times now.
Holy crap, it was rejected again. This time my filing is supposedly missing the client's signature page. Which absolutely has been on the document for the past week and every other filing.
If it wasn't on there, how could they have missed that deficiency?!
7 days, 6 returns.
The most recent return was because of redaction of her birth date on the waiver affidavit.
The district Court, in a different case, yesterday, returned a filing for failing to redact the same thing.
I see why she had such a hard time! I'm on day 6 of trying to get it filed.
@ashleyann_atx
My mom was a speech and language pathologist. She said she was just testing new items for work while she was really assessing me every year! She didn't tell us we were ADHD until I was about 23 or 24. And then I got meds.
@steph_teasley
For senior skip day my parents gave me a letter for the school. I didn't want to get in trouble, but I wanted to hang out with my friends. Lol they are not teachers.
@melissasavenko
I have a client who has a guy living in her house. No lease, no payment of rent, just refuses to leave. She gave him notice to vacate and I filed an eviction. He calls me and demands to know how she can evict him when he's lived there for 3 years?!
Sir you do not own the home.
@ashleyann_atx
Lots of support at home, but I would have preferred to know. She said that she didn't want us to use it as a crutch. Hoped we would independently develop coping mechanisms. Mine just got worse as I got older.

$20 a day for 9 to 10 hours of care for a child?
$60 total for an overnight 13.25 hour shift and 2 kids?
I would worry about the person taking that amount of pay and their dedication to my child.

I'm so sorry you had that experience. You deserved better. I had a dear friend who had to have the inside of her uterus burned off every 5 or 8 years bc she couldn't get a hysterectomy and her periods bled so badly she almost died from blood loss.

I mean, the difference was under 2 milliseconds and they have only recording the length of days since the 1960s. We have no idea how the length of days has change in earth's history.
@NomeDaBarbarian
Not locking my keys in the car was a challenge, so every single time I get out of the car I shake my keys in my hand. Now, I have to touch my phone, shake my keys, and consciously confirm I have my wallet. Not a habit, but a process for leaving the house getting out of car.
@LolOverruled
I mean, forget about pregnancy for just a minute and consider what happens without condoms. Uncontrolled spread of sexually transmitted disease. But we now know they they don't care about people because we have lost so many in an actual plague.
@realgirl_fieri
My mom was so horrified when I got rounder at the age of 11 that she took me to a dietician! Good for you celebrating their growth spurts instead of scarring them for life with the need to watch their weight before puberty.
@_chismosa_
Constantly reminding myself that I am allowed to feel safe when I am safe. And then figuring out why I have the panic/ anxiety response to the thing causing the stress response.
I've decided that instead of working for someone else, again, I'm going full-steam ahead with my own firm. I'm taking on an associate this summer. We are taking new business, real estate, and consumer litigation cases. I'm going to teach him how to lawyer, and work on Board cert.

When my brother and I started caring about cloths and stuff, my mom ruined a couple of our less expensive cloths by washing a white t-shirt with red or leaving an iron stain on a t-shirt. We each took over our own laundry to save our clothes in middle school. She was brilliant.
My grandma has died. She was 103 years old. I'm so sad that she is gone, but so happy that she is free.
I thought I would be reduced to a puddle of tears when she actually died, but I'm weirdly ok. I know how badly she wanted to transition.
Male attorneys who share office space with female attorneys... when nobody else is in the office on Friday do not leave the dang office front door unlocked! Geez
I just got kicked in the teeth by the ADHD drug shortage the week before a 4 day trial and 4 weeks before my next 2 trials.
My husband was fabulous and started calling pharmacies and found one that has my Ritalin in stock. My doctor didn't sign it b4 the end of the day.
No meds

Do any of my other adhd homies feel like they avoid small projects but love difficult projects? I am looking at the projects on my desk - I would rather spend 3 days researching and drafting a motion than make 4 phone calls and send 2 emails. In other news, 4 calls today.

Chihuahua/ pittie/ boxer / pug mix here. Way too smart, meatbag made of rocks, loves water, burrowing into blankets, and being on my lap. She is the size of a large cat and weighs 30 lbs.
@drjenwolkin
I would like to know why I dread the shower?! I love being clean. I like my lemony soap and scrubby poof.
Why do I dread taking a shower?? It makes no sense.
@brent_waggoner
When does he work on the fences? Tagging calves? Fixing broken water pipes? Feeding the cows? Buying hay? Buying feed? Shifting cows from one field to another to rotate? Where is his bull and who is feeding him? What about shots and planting good grass for his milk cows??
Today I turn 52 years old. My grandma passed last year at 103.
I think I finally believe that I am living the second half of my life now. My first thoughts were that I want to be as healthy as my grandma if I live to be 100. Still spry, still in my own home, and sharp most days.
Apparently, if you can see two people hugging, you're left-brained, and if you can see a dinosaur, you're right-brained. What do you see in the mountain?
OK fam, I'm headed to a doctor's appointment. Could find out my recent issues are caused by fibroids, or the dreaded C word. So prayers are welcome. There's a boy in foster care somewhere that needs this to be easy to resolve, so I can be his mom sooner rather than later.

How long one can stretch out dry beans and rice if purchased in bulk.
Deciding which bills to pay.
Walking a couple of miles to and from work for several months bc you can't afford the registration and inspection on a car you own.

I told a boss of mine "all of the women who work in this department have started menstruating, so I think you should call them ladies or women." He only made the mistake once, and he blushed. I was a 24 year old kid.

Also, every time he brings in the car, every time he holds a door, and every time he says "God bless you," when you sneeze. Continue to treat your significant other with respect and it helps your relationship.

I broke up with someone in the past because we brought out the worst in each other. I loved him, he wasn't a bad person, we just were not good together. I am so glad I did because my husband is amazing and wonderful. We are great together and it is a much better relationship.
I love it when 21 years of legal practice leads me to a gut instinct that I follow and find controlling case law to support. Especially when it means I have a great cause of action for a poor, older, disabled client. Bam!
Just hanging out on a zoom in a waiting room for my 10 am hearing. I was checked in by the Court at 9:50 am. It is now 10:35 am.
Does anyone else feel like they need to call the Court when it is 35 minutes past the time for the hearing just to make sure they weren't forgotten??
I own my own law firm and I get to choose when I work. I'm still sitting in my car outside the office before I go in bc as soon as I get inside I'm going to be working very hard.
It doesn't mean the work sucks for me, it means I'm about to use all of my brain power.
@realgirl_fieri
We have a friend that we saw enter an abusive relationship. I told my husband that his job was to always be her friend and that we would be there for her when she finally got out. It took 11 years.
Had my follow up with the Gastroenterologist today. Quote "I'm not saying you need to get to your ideal weight, just lose 50 pounds." Thanks, as if that never occurred to me. Hahaha "just cut out sugar in all forms, low carb diet I don't care about fat and protein." Gah!
@BuzzFeed
In Texas one just needs to file a general denial so that you don't have a default judgment entered against you. This is a boilerplate denial putting the plaintiff to their proof. It doesn't mean it didn't happen. Essentially it means prove the elements and your damages.
Almost 23 years of practicing law, and I still get a stress tummy before every hearing, deposition, and trial. LOL, I guess it never really gets better?
Hope my hearingnis perfunctory and not in depth but ill be prepared.
I had a friend who greeted her husband EVERYDAY by running and jumping up for him to catch her. They got divorced within 5 years. He was a bad husband.
This type of fake relationship is not healthy.
After my aggressive hair chop this morning my hair is short enough that I will have to do something to it everyday. This is ok. I'm 50, as of 38 minutes ago, and 50 year old women should do stuff to their hair daily, right? Maybe I'll even start wearing makeup? Probably not.
@punished_cait
I think it is interesting that they each pay for their own meals and then he wants to eat hers.
There are other issues that were not raised here, but I think he is being controlling and trying to force her hand. If she had a food scarce childhood, sharing food is stress.
@CharlDowning
@KCDavisSays
Yep, my dad always said if you need a qualifier use And.
For instance, in a relationship, "I like you, and I feel like we could communicate better."
But is a negation while And adds to the statement.

21.5 years here. I like what I do. I haven't stayed in positions I didn't like even when I got push back. I'm always trying to grow. I love helping people.

What about women wearing jeans and their boyfriend's hoodie? Or guys wearing eyeliner? This is much too broad. Also it is a horrible law.
@braidednosehair
101 year old home owner here. We had the electricity replaced because we had knob and tube wiring. While they were replacing it they learned that a portion of the house was built on with aluminum wiring. The old fuse box was actually live! I had hung a wreath on it for years!!
Totally random thought today:
I love my ordinary life.
I thought, growing up, that to be successful I needed to do something BIG. I realized that the gifts I was given don't require something big, but everyday acts of compassion and fierce representation for my little clients.
I love it when an $11 public information request results in conclusive evidence that my client did not run a red light. Especially since her previous personal injury attorneys released her after the other insurance company rejected the settlement demand.
Ok, in under 7 days, I learned everything I needed to know about HOAs, their lies, their charges, and wrongful debt collection practices and drafted a rocking petition for a client.
Tomorrow I shift back to the case going to trial in 3 weeks and get everything done in that case.
@lexbyanyname
Interesting. My therapist just recommended a book called Burn out: the secret to unlocking the stress cycle. She feels that the author has an interesting view. That we need to expend energy to burn off the stress hormones and reconnect instead of shutting down and "resting."
@CleopatraLovel
That is kind of you to follow up. My client owns a home in which there is a guy who won't leave her home. He lied to her to get in the house and refuses to leave. She tried filing on her own, and I had to get involved bc she couldn't get it accepted by the court.
As an attorney who owns my own firm, one of the problems I have is doing both legal work and administrative or nonlegal work on the same day. Today I had to draft minutes for a meeting, pay some bills, and take a CLE. My brain wants to go home now, but legal work!
I hate that I have to do this, but on days like today, I have to pull back and work on things I can control. Not the Supreme Court, not our Democracy, but a case against a homeowners association for a disabled client. I can do something about this.
@ADHDForReal
I'm so the opposite! I couldn't think of the word brownie in Friday. I told my husband I wanted a fudgy chocolate cookie like thing that comes ina square.
I'm very sad. I just packed up my office for at least 2 weeks WFH. I have to assume that it could be a month though, learned that lesson in 2020. So I've got my 3 biggest files in banker boxes and the rest of my stuff in 2 more boxes. It feels like this is dredging up 2020 misery
Therapy today got me crying about how stressful my jury trial was! Dang. It's what I do for a living.
How could I ever reduce my stress levels if I wig out after a jury trial?? I love litigation.
I don't have it in me today, but I have to do my best. ADHD tricking me into feeling like I'm not good enough or smart enough. I am a strong, intelligent attorney with 20 yrs experience. This feeling never goes away 100%, but at least it's not nearly as often as every day.
@eargardn_
I get frustrated when u can't find things I use all of the time. I decided I can have many of them. I have 10 pair of scissors, 5 box cutters, 8 envelope slitters, and 5 rulers. Why search everywhere for one?!
#adhd
crew: have you ever realized that something you do everyday is really about procrastination? I suddenly realized that my "morning nap" after I get up is just a way to push off going to work. Need to work on that.
My parents are getting a new car, so they are donating their 2010 to the cause of their daughter and son in law. We are driving this baby, that only has 63,000 miles home to Texas tomorrow.

When I had my pap last week, without batting an eye she asked if I wanted any std testing. She had my records pulled up and knows my husband is the primary on our insurance. I didn't need any testing, but I was impressed that I wouldn't have had to ask for it if I did.
Be good to your loved ones and hug your spouse tonight. I just learned that a friend of mine lost her husband today. He had a massive heart attack on Saturday. My heart weeps for her. They just found each other a few years ago!
Y'all my eyes look the same color as the pearls my husband bought me for Christmas! Ignore the fact that I can't take a bathroom selfie and my hair is wrecked today.
@prinxeMu
Didn't know they had sued the neighbor and ended up all of the way in Texas S. Ct. re property use issue. Also, didn't know the neighbor was the baby killer Jeanine Jones. Just didn't like being told not to explore where we wanted.
