Or I can take medicine and trundle off to bed to read a few pages of The Wizard of Oz before I doze off.
The number one thing you should be doing right now is catastrophizing and panicking. Stop exercising. Stop reading books. Eat like shit. Fuck up your sleep schedule. Eschew fresh air. Doom scroll all day.

Someone has never hit the physical limits and it shows. I have had eyes refuse to focus and wrists that will no longer support the book yet the lectern is inadequate for a smaller book.
Reading has zero downside. Itâs one of the highest roi activities available, and everyone has time for it. It takes away from nothing but gives to everything. Choosing not to read is silly, and honestly stupid. Itâs as bad as not exercising.

Yeah, I thought I'd check back in on the internet. Good: book recommendation that resulted in an Amazon order. Trusting you, dude. Bad: well, I'm going back to the book I'm reading because it's more cheerful. Carrie and Tommy are at the prom and voting has begun.

I am unclear why you want me to feel "this author attended a writing workshop and therefore labors over every sentence instead of telling a story", but K.
The best descriptions make the reader FEEL something. âA messy roomâ tells us nothing. âEmpty takeout boxes stacked like a cardboard skylineâ tells us everything.

I think I understand why there's the stereotype of high-power people berating others lol. It's just really clear to them in some areas what's the obviously right thing to be done AND incomprehensible that others can't tell/aren't seeing it and thus don't do it. Hence -> anger

After the first week, I turned down the marriage proposal. After the first month, I proposed and was accepted. 6 months later, we were married. 30+y later, no regrets. The 0300 worry now is we might only have another 30y together.
The person who became your best friend, you probably didnât know it the day you met them. You probably got to know them week by week, month by month, until at some point you realized you couldnât imagine life without them. Itâs the same way with developing a passion.

reading, like most skills, is best improved obliquely. don't try to kickstart a reading habit, but simply ask: what am I most interested in? drill down to one topic, and then google for books on that topic. don't read to read, read to get deeper into things you already care about

'To read great books does not mean one becomes 'bookish'; it means that something of the terrible insight of Dostoevsky, of the richly-charged imagination of Shakespeare, of the luminous wisdom of Goethe, actually passes into the personality of the reader ...' JC Powys

The last photo I took was of a student presenting at a professional conference; he wanted photos to send to his commanding officer. The photos before that were of student projects in my classes >10 years ago. If it's deceptive to help students document their work, then guilty.
Genuine question: are women aware they're being deceptive by shooting only at specific angles or doctoring photos? I assume the answer is yes but I really don't know (saying women here because I don't know men to do this)
