When I was 25, I'd been married for several years and running my own household. I'd already furnished a 3 bedroom house. You can just be a real adult starting after high school graduation.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but when I was 25, I was tired of feeling like a child in my mother’s home. Buying a new comforter for my bedroom did not satiate my nesting urge. Moving into that apartment was life-giving.

I know serious scientists who definitely have scientist as one of their identities Those folks are also (grand)parents, readers, athletes, amateur musicians/actors/artists, and other hobbies Finance bros may have no life at $200k; professional scientists are often full humans.
It’s near impossible to make $200k at a job without it consuming your life and being part of your identity.

I think someone fails basic graphing 101 by neglecting uncertainty. The much larger range discussed at length in the past month is not reflected here at all. Confidently asserting that 4 is different than 6 in this context so trends are meaningful is not a good look.
avg number of sexual partners by how tall people are (18-29yo) ...it's crazy that the bodycounts of female and male heights are almost perfectly aligned here. Why do you think this is?

Any plot with zero indication of uncertainty (error bars, bands, boxes) is unreliable. The range here is so small as to be laughable. This difference between 4 and 6 in practical terms is irrelevant.
what the fuck I do not believe that short women are universally less ran through, if anything I'd expect the opposite

Consistency. The 12 inch cold-cut combo on wheat is exactly the same regardless of where I am in the country. It tastes the same; it's the same amount of food. It's convenient enough food that my stomach will tolerate on travel.
i've lived long enough to see Subway outlive its purpose. five dollar footlongs are like $15 now. you're not going to sell me on giant cookies, pizzas, soups, salad bowls. i'm here for one thing and it's the cheap sub i got in 2008. if you don't have it, then what's the point?

15? Oh, my small-town self cringes at the thought. Someone comes out and the estimate is something we can pay means sold. Even getting 2 estimates is so hard that it's not worth it for anything under $50k.
How do people have a 100% close rate? A customer called yesterday, we pre-qualified her and scheduled an on-site visit for today. When I got there, a competitor’s truck was in the driveway, so I waited for him to leave to not make it awkward. I go in, see what the client is looking for, take measurements, create the estimate, present it on the spot, and of course, ask for the sale. The client tells me she can’t decide until she has FIFTEEN estimates. 5 from big companies, 5 from medium-sized ones, and 5 from smaller businesses. ...How do you even compete with that?

At one point we had three houses in different states because it's hard to sell houses in dying towns and yet it is good to move away from the dying region to a better job. What's ideal and what's possible are often different things. I agree planning for non-ideal is not good.
The whole "I am going to buy my next house and keep my current house as a rental" sentiment is very overrated in my eyes I hardly know a single person this has worked out for long-term Not because the idea is "bad" per se, but because: - You end up spending much more on house two than originally anticipated, and need the equity for a down payment - You decide to do a bunch of remodels, or big projects in house 2 that requires more liquidity - You move far away from house 1 and it becomes a pain to manage it as a rental - You just don't enjoy being a landlord (big one) This is not some house hack that you need to follow.. most people need to sell house 1 to buy house 2, and that is okay, and recommended in most scenarios I would say

@adikussaladbar @Thzer0r It's not. This is what whippersnappers proclaim as ground truth as they experience the excitement of a first great project. Folks who have been through many great projects know about ebb/flow and the change of seasons to meet needs.
