I have been reflecting a lot on the time that has gone by since our mother passed away. Thankful to
@InputFortWayne
for giving me opportunity to share what the grief process has been like for both myself and my siblings and how we are moving forward.
Avatar The Way of Water is absolutely epic. I was constantly in awe at the VFX & the leaps in tech on display. Outdoes the first on every level. At times it feels like a smorgasbord of Cameron's greatest hits playing out in a new world. Can't wait to see this again. Top tier JC.
@chaedria
What worldview is that? I feel like "someone saying they like something and someone else telling them that sucks, then a third party saying hey that's not very kind and kind of uncalled for" is a pretty straightforward reaction?
@chaedria
Why do you think people wouldn't tell you this stuff in real life? And why do you act like people just being thoughtful and responding to your tweet, have some deeper issue besides just sticking up for someone else? Is kindness so alien an idea online rather than a public one?
Imagine thinking a film about a veteran who agrees to rob a bank because, he can't afford his wife's surgery that isn't covered by his insurance, doesn't have a broader message about our country's healthcare system and its treatment of veterans.
Only garbage here is this take.
Truly insane that in Fort Wayne Indiana, you can literally kill someone as a Police Officer, and pay less than what a parking ticket would cost in the same city.
Reminder the owners of ElAzteca are/were Trump supporters & this is why I actively discourage people from spending their money there. On top of the fact their food is bad.
Instead support El Ranchito, Tacos Pacos, LA Michoacana, Tacos Arandas "El Amish, & other local businesses.
A year ago Fort Wayne PD teargassed our community and they still refuse to acknowledge any wrong doing and actively are pushing the narrative they were in the right. Days later the mayor supported them and stood against the very people who worked to get him elected.
Shea Serrano and
@arturodraws
the first Mexican Americans to put not 3, but 4 books on the NY Times best sellers list!
A true inspiration for little Mexicans everywhere who grow up believing things like this are out of reach. You love to see it.
You know why I don't support the Fort Wayne PD? Because they tear gassed myself and people I care about. Even if my proximity to those people wasn't close, which it is, they ATTACKED their citizens. They harass lower income communities regularly and have for decades.
If anything, people's hyper fixation on imposing their strict leftist viewpoints on art & condemning anything that doesn't fit with their moral / ethical parameters, makes me take their politics less seriously and see them more as a performer vying for the award of most virtuous.
hate the idea that you’re not a real leftist or feminist unless you impose an exclusively political framework on every single movie that comes out, it’s just a limited way of approaching art. there’s more to talk about!
Everyone, what is your favorite movie from this year that isn't new, but was new to you?
For me it's Steel Magnolias ('89). I'd never seen it, but man I loved it and by the end I was a wreck.
What an enormous waste of money.
Seriously, there are so many better things that this money can be spent on than vanity projects so Mayor Henry can feel like he left a mark on the city, which he already did when he sided with police who teargassed it's citizens.
@chaedria
Yeah of course? Wouldn't call him a friend, but we've interacted, and he's a nice person who tweeted something innocuous. But if you tweeted how you love Casablanca or something & someone told you it sucks I'd respond to them the same way and we don't even interact, but IK of you
How can you claim to fight for change and support that? How can you support any police for that matter? The entire institution of law in our country is built on the oppression of marginalized people at its core.
You can't change that, you must abolish it.
@BrndnStrssng
That's what I've been thinking about a lot lately and why I told my brother I am seeing it in theaters, because, even though I don't like thinking of it, there will only be so many more brand new Scorsese films to see on opening weekend and to experience with others.
Pretty ironic a city that would tear gas it's citizens downtown and suffer no consequences or even admit wrongdoing is now going to honor MLK with a statue in the same space.
Our logo should be, "No cognitive dissonance to be found here."
An artist team out of Texas is being recommended to construct a monument in downtown Fort Wayne, honoring a visit the late Dr. Martin Luther King paid to the city in 1963. The display called "Pillars of Hope and Justice" would open in June 2023.
I really wanted to win for my mom & for my family. I tried hard to get it done, but it wasn't our year. I'll forever be grateful I got the chance to tell my mother I was running & to discuss it with her. I'm sad we fell short, but I'm going to keep fighting for her every day.
Big structure changes coming at the local Dem party. County chair position, as well as the vice chair, treasurer, and secretary will be up for election. Our current chair will not be re-running for the position.
If you want change locally and think we need to be doing more run!
Jim Banks is a garbage human being & everything he says is a racist dog whistle to signal Trump's base he's w/ them still.
I don't retweet him or quote tweet him purposefully. He works only to further his political career and is one of the worst elected officials in our country.
Literally any performance in Narcos Mexico, most notably Diego Luna, Alberto Ammann, Gerardo Taracena, Tenoch Huerta, and José María Yazpik.
Was talking to my brother last night about this & how if this show wasn't entirely in Spanish it would be getting the acclaim Ozark gets.
I never understand when people say this because I see people who genuinely love film analyze and discuss films they love all the time on here, from small accounts to major writers and critics, this idea that you can't thoughtfully discuss film on here is weird.
But in all seriousness, I watch how my timeline at least engages movies and think would I ever share art thoughts and the answer that I always come back to is resoundingly no
A waste of everyone’s time
The entire department is trash along with the entire justice system. People of color get disproportionately higher sentences from the courts for the same things white people get a slap on the wrist for. Cops prey on inner city schools and lock up kids for things they shouldn't.
This is honestly one of the worst tweets I've seen on this platform.
Acknowledging the dearest relationship the deceased had in respect to their loved ones is not wrong. What's even worse is staying silent at everyone calling you out and blocking them instead.
@chaedria
I'm not policing you because I'm nobody on here, nor do I expect you to take action based on my tweet, I'm no authority figure clearly. But I did voice my not liking your tweet like I would with anyone who said it to someone I'm friendly with on here, like BR
As someone who loves this man's work. I don't know how it doesn't embarrass him to clearly misread what Scorsese is saying. To act as though he's somehow incorrect, in his assessment of modern blockbuster and the MCU'ification of film & how it will impact film literacy, is silly.
This guy doesn't want to actually work through issues with their predatory practices he just wants to appear to care while changing absolutely nothing.
It's the same thing time & time again with these kinds of people who damage communities with the goal of lining their pockets.
Two albums that definitely could've easily been my favorites of the year, one has been on replay all year and the other just came out, but is just incredible.

After three interviews I got some awesome news today, I got offered a job that I accepted! Ready to start fresh in the new year, I'm energized and I'm super excited. I just wanted to share that!
It will forever disappoint me that we got what in my opinion is in contention for the best Star Wars film ever and were so close to getting a real change in the direction of the SW universe, but instead, with the exception of Andor and some of Mando, have gotten tired retreads.
Other than the disappearing knife, this fight actually contains some of the best fight choreography in Star Wars. Kylo facing multiple guards is creative, fun, and very well done.
Jim Banks is a racist. He should just come out and say it and stop pretending and masking his words under the guise of "patriotism" like he is standing for anything besides his bigoted beliefs.
Banks doesn't care about police violence or communities of people of color.
@jlalibs
I feel like a lot of the praise is less geared towards Blockbuster and more towards video rental stores in general. I never was a Blockbuster guy, but I loved Hollywood Video as a kid and the other stores we used to rent from like Scott's and Eye on Video.
On this day in 2020.
The night after being teargassed our community came together and stood against the unlawful police force in our city. Again we were teargassed, but people showed resilience and unity and that's what we having moving forward still today.
Need a break from political & news podcasts? Listen to
@seequels
where they talk about straight to video movie sequels. Thank goodness for this, it was the break I needed this morning. Their last episode on "I'll always know what you did Last Summer", is funny & great!
@BrndnStrssng
I think Hollywood really wanted her to be a leading actor, but she excels so much more in supporting roles. Besides those you mentioned she's incredible in Perks of Being a Wallflower.
@spiketeejoint
Remember Push put out Infrared and got Drake to do Duppy, then he pushed the Red Button… yall dont see the play but the exact same thing happening to Kenny. He goin go crazy. We goin give em the win for a few days, then we goin find out something we aint know bout em. Watch.
Just finished The Mole Agent today. The first Chilean film to be nominated for best Documentary feature.
This one hit pretty hard. I couldn't help but think of all my relatives in Mexico, my tio's, tia's, & my grandparents and how little I see them because they are so far away.
Hey
@MarcFernandez
Jeff Sneider is a misogynistic, garbage person who should be fired. There's been more than enough info to warrant his removal, besides his meltdown. Get someone better.
@ColliderVideo
The fact that FWPD are operating like some sort of unsanctioned black ops group is not only ridiculous, it's dangerous, it's unlawful and needs to end. No transparency, threats of violence, snatching up protest organizers. What is happening in our city right now.
Every year I do my favorite albums of the year. This was an amazing year.
My top 20 albums of 2022
20. Logic - Vinyl Days
19. BrockHampton - The Family
18. Lupe Fiasco - Dril Music in Zion
17. Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez see your Future
16. Freddie Gibbs - Sold Soul Separately
Not only do I not want to rub elbows with people who are elected and not helping our city, I especially don't want to take pictures with the mayor. Seeing people now smile side by side with the same guy who supported police violence against our community bothers me.
Love that
@DeadEndHipHop
is live now at midnight ATL time discussing the drops live and has been covering this beef by the minute. This is the Hip Hop Media channel that should be at the forefront. They are the GOATS in this.
Was really bothered by some of the people at the protest today actively pushing for police to get involved with counter protesters or random people causing disruption.
Police are not our allies or friends and working with them is not something that should ever be done.
I am in support of Latinos as a people succeeding.
Doing well as individuals then turning around and supporting legislation that makes it difficult for other Latinos to thrive, shows everyone the bottom line is money for you, not equity and opportunity for our people.
@CountVolpe
@letterboxd
Whenever I start reading a review and the writer says they couldn't finish the film for whatever reason I will generally stop reading. Can't review something you haven't seen fully.
@DanielRPK
I remember being 11 when this came out so it arrived at the perfect time as I grew up watching Rugrats and it was super cool seeing my favorite characters grown up the way I had. I really enjoyed it and thought it was a great companion piece to the regular show.
Just sent my niece and nephew the video of Julian Castro announcing his candidacy in English and in Spanish because that is something they need to see.
It makes me so happy to hear a Latino and a Mexican at that winning an award up there speaking Spanish on this massive stage. I'm not sure if you understand how important that is, but it means a lot, it really does.

What a load of shit.
I think this is something worth writing a story about. Two wealthy white people working to screw over POC & marginalized communities by buying up housing & using our city as a monopoly playground.
Local coverage & action taken against them needs to happen.
@chaedria
TBF I'm not on your TL or follow you, but I do like or retweet you enough that your general tweets show up on my feed, so do a lot of "film twitter" faces with similar followings, cus it seems like that's the topic here today. So I haven't searched out the crazy I'm sure is there
Met a girl on the Belfast & Giant's Causeway tour, who's from Boston, & ended up spending the day together.
We both leave Saturday so we're grabbing dinner tonight & going to Temple Bar after. Going to spend tomorrow walking Dublin. Can't think of a better way to end this trip.
Tomorrow is election day! I wanted to make a short video as we head into what we've been working towards! We hit over 5700 doors that represents over 7000 voters all across our district.
My mom was so beautiful. Today would have been her 60th birthday. I love and miss you Ma. Happy Birthday. Thanks for showing me The Exorcist when I was a kid and starting my love of horror movies.
Great thread you should read about gentrification going on in our community.
There was actually a post with them back in January where people were specifically calling them out for their practices and they have changed nothing about how they do business.
@chaedria
Sure, like I said. I don't defend or "side" with anyone being like, get a load of this ***** or being vile/insane about your tweet, there's a clear way to be like, not cool that isn't just laced in misogyny. Just DM me.
I'm finally sitting down to watch this. I read the book back in 2019 and really loved it. Chloé Zhao made one of favorite films in 2017 with The Rider. Excited to finally watch this.
Poster art by the great
@SG_Posters
Just incredible. The best film in the series. Feels like a genuine epic with action sequence after action sequence that just does not let up, and just when you think you get a second to settle down, it starts up again. Visually stunning on top of that. Donnie Yen stole the show.
After watching part 3 I have to see that each part in this franchise just gets progressively better. Super excited and now seated for John Wick 4 in Imax!
Knocking some doors this morning, but I I’m so excited to share this with you all!
A huge thank you to
@HerediaHilaria
for all the hard work and talent she poured into this.
Why are people like this?
No. Never. Pence has always been a piece of shit. Before Trump he was a governor in support of conversion therapy, he mishandled an HIV crisis in our state, passed some of the most restrictive abortion legislation, and so much more.
I really hate online back and forths, but I wrote up a thread responding to the restaurant owners who recently made a FB post about me, and I'm debating on sharing it.
@Vanessid
I get you saying that, but Stone is the bigger star, Scorsese has historically been snubbed and lost every award, this is his third time going 0 for ten, & I think aside from everything, the Academy was never going to recognize KOTFM like other bodies (and I wanted Lilly to win).
