I may not have stated my point as well as I could have. I was really referring to Karl Popper and Thomas Kuhn: the notion that anything can be falsified, and that’s how science proceeds; not from triumph to triumph but through discovery of previous errors or false assumptions.

I’d say that a strictly principled and consistent approach to free speech is imperative, not just on principle but because free speech is a hugely popular idea that cuts through a lot of the crap and is (on the whole) impossible to argue against without special pleading.

Yes, Russia tries to show off this kind of stuff which isn't really available/integrated (like T-14) or basically nothing new (like Kinzhal) then sticks with stupid decisions for political reasons (like AK-12). And I still fancy 8.6 BLK anyway, or at least I want to know more.
