@JimHaverstrom @Mr_Tennis_Coach Great point. I prefer a blended/ European style, a mix of tailored methods. From a confidence standpoint, some kids just need to have a try, no harm in that. Finding the balance between structured fundamentals and exploratory SSGs is key to helping players develop holistically.

@JimHaverstrom @Mr_Tennis_Coach Sure. I loved to have those type of players in the gym! In my experience, I had players with different skill levels. The approach of learn by doing might work for some but fail to engage or develop others who benefit more from explicit instruction and structured practice.

@Mr_Tennis_Coach Absolutely. My experience involved players without basic dribbling mechanics therefore this could be a barrier to effective skill development and more importantly engagement. A short burst of isolated skill dev can lighten the load and allow a player to focus on the technique.

@basketball_her @DU_Palatinates The multifaceted and multi-hatteded (π§’ππ©ππͺβοΈ) role of a British basketball coach. Great insight! The amount of work that coaches do on a daily basis and the skill sets gained over the years is often unnoticed.

@TerryBattenberg @CoachColeCC I must add that add this age, young Spanish players are taught to play 1v1 and fast break therefore 24 seconds is plenty time to move the ball or drive and kick (the next step) as most of the baskets are scored early in the shot clock.
