🚨 Citrea’s First-Ever Fork: Kumquat is Here!… What is Citrea? @citrea_xyz is Bitcoins’s first ZK rollup A major upgrade is coming to Citrea, bringing exciting improvements that make it cheaper, faster, and more efficient. Let’s break it down. 🧵👇 What is Kumquat? Kumquat is Citrea’s first-ever hard fork, introducing critical upgrades to enhance scalability, proving efficiency, and data availability. Think of it as a system-wide upgrade to keep Citrea at the cutting edge of Bitcoin rollups. Why this Fork? Blockchain systems evolve through upgrades called forks, which modify the protocol’s rules. Kumquat is a hard fork, meaning all nodes must upgrade to stay compatible. It’s the first step in Citrea’s long-term vision for innovation. Key Upgrades in Kumquat🚀 • Light Client Proofs: Trustlessly verify Citrea’s state with minimal data. • Cancun Compatibility: Ethereum-inspired upgrades like new EVM opcodes. • Faster Proving: Optimized recursion & ECDSA acceleration. • Cheaper Contracts: Off-chain storage for reduced fees. What are these upgrades? We have the Light Client Proofs These allow you to verify Citrea’s state on Bitcoin using minimal data, making it lightweight and efficient. Now, with recursion, proofs build on previous ones, we can cut costs and speeding up verification. Then the Cancun Compatibility Citrea integrates key Ethereum Cancun upgrades, including: • EIP-1153: they give efficient storage with transient opcodes. • EIP-5656: allows faster memory copying. • EIP-6780: it helps in Controlling contract destruction. Even without blobs, Citrea remains in sync with the evolving EVM landscape. Faster, Cheaper Proving Kumquat brings major efficiency boosts: • Fake Receipts: Enables full proving on testnet without high costs. • ECDSA Acceleration: 3x faster signature verification using Risc0. • Cycle Reductions: Optimized execution for lower fees. Off-Chain Contracts Before Kumquat, contract bytecode was stored on Bitcoin DA. Now, only the code hash is stored on-chain, while full contract code is off-chain. This means lower fees and faster deployments, without compromising trustlessness. Multi-Prover Strategy Citrea’s guest program can now run in both Risc0 by @RiscZero and SP1 by @SuccinctLabs , adding flexibility and reducing reliance on a single proving system. More proving options = more resilience. When is Kumquat launching? The internal devnet has already been forked successfully, and the testnet upgrade is expected The Citrea team is ensuring everything runs smoothly before the big launch. Why It Matters Kumquat is a major milestone that makes Citrea more: ✅ Scalable ✅ Cost-efficient ✅ Developer-friendly ✅ Future-proof And lastly a stronger foundation for Bitcoin rollups! Final Thoughts The Citrea ecosystem is evolving fast, and Kumquat is just the beginning. Follow @citrea_xyz for updates and be part of the journey as Bitcoin rollups take the next leap forward. #Citrea #Bitcoin #Rollups #ZK #Kumquat What do you think of Correa’s first ever fork? Lets talk about this

@Kripto_Ally @0xBreadguy There will always be another chance, make sure to take that. Sorry you feel this way…

@mattdotfi It was interesting to read and if there is something megaeth has built as of now, it’s that the community has based members

Definitely cannot, that’s why we’ve had new consumer chains like abstract(love their abstract global wallet idea).. the unique blockchain experience wouldn’t excite anyone without some added narratives.. onboarding can be as simple as what solana is doing but retention is where the problem lies, we cannot keep throwing liquidity at new users. There should be proper plan for onboarding like what exactly the blockchain can be used for and showing them that whatever is being done irl can be done on chain with decentralization

It’s funny that you’d see them buying and using Korean products without having the same type of skin, I thought this was explained to everyone in our primary schools… someone once told me she was having skin issues so she’s using skin care products, I asked her if she got any dermatologist advice and the answer is no. What if you are adding to the existing problem? We really need the system to work so things like this wouldn’t be an issue

@jon_charb The privacy discourse is rapid growing and moving, you’d be wrong to not bet on privacy right now.

@_Kriptopia @StoryProtocol @monad_xyz @megaeth_labs @initia @_kaitoai @LineaBuild @movementlabsxyz If Linea moves away from Q1, they will lose whatever is left of their loyal base. They should learn from Starknet, Zksync and scroll.

When I say privacy, you say? gAztec @aztecnetwork, the first privacy L2 network on eth blockchain.. the future is privacy

@lucacseth @samurai_quack @noise_xyz Not when you have a project that is backed by the first real time blockchain.. that’s a game changer!

I am not one for sharing DMs because they are meant to be private but I’m really buillish on @union_build. Why not? This is an interoperability solution that promises to be secure, cheap and fast.

I just mentioned this to someone today, peer pressure and social media dey kill us for this part of the world. You see them shouting Korean products like say our skin and environmental conditions na the same. Some of these stuffs even need a dermatologist recommendation.. I no sha donate for anybody wey spoil skin with ‘skin care products’
