Soldiers assigned to the 1221st Engineer Clearance Company, 122nd Engineer Battalion, 117th Engineer Brigade, South Carolina Army National Guard from Graniteville conducted route clearance support of local agencies, North Augusta, South Carolina, Sept. 29, 2024.

We are not slowing down on storm recovery. From the crews on the ground, to the employees working in our sign shop and EOC, our workforce is fully focused on getting South Carolina back to normal. If you see our folks out on the road, please slow down and give them room to work.

Team SC is working around the clock to clear roads, restore power, and get the gas stations open. The crews out there are working as fast as they can under conditions like we have not seen before. It's going to take some time, but things will return to normal.
SCDOT crews are working around the clock alongside our utility and local partners to continue to clear trees across the state in areas impacted by Tropical Storm Helene.
The heavy winds from the storm brought down thousands of trees, especially in the western parts of the state.

Response Update
After working 24/7 Thursday and Friday, by 8 a.m. Saturday, crew had restored power to nearly 189,000 customers, which is nearly half of customers who had lost power.

SCDOT is responding to impacts associated with Tropical Storm Helene. We are working closely with utility companies and local agencies to safely reopen all of our roads.
Slow down for first responders and plan your route ahead by using the 511 SC app or website.
Team SC is hard at work cleaning up, clearing the roads, and getting the power back on. This is going to take some time, many days in some places. Please be patient and let them finish the job.

SCDOT is encouraging drivers to avoid travel as wind speeds associated with Tropical Storm Helene have caused downed trees and other debris in roadways.
