Daily Wire host criticizes Mr. Rogers for corrupting boys with his "metrosexual wimpiness," adding "if you really want to have a beautiful day in the neighborhood, call John Wayne and tell him to bring his guns"
Dan Andrews: REALLY sorry you can’t go shopping at 1am
Annastacia Palszczuk: LOL where do you want to go anyway, INDIA?
Blessed to have such impressive Labor leaders in this time
I just want one person - JUST ONE - to explain how, without closed borders or lockdowns, covid zero is possible to sustain in a world in which covid exists. I have not seen a single person even try to explain this.

@mark_petrolo
When I was a boy, flour was carried in the mouths of orphans, who would spit it into the flour-well in the backyard, and that worked fine for us.
If Jeremy Corbyn's approval rating is way below Boris Johnson's, that's just evidence that the British people are morons, because look at Boris Johnson. Just look at him.
Because of lockdowns, my father did not see his grandchildren for all of 2020. Because of lockdowns, he has not seen them for all of 2021. He's now completely lost his sight and will never see his grandchildren again. Forgive me if "we're all in this together" isn't cutting it
It is really a bit odd for Daryl Somers to say "Hey Hey would be axed today" as if it wasn't axed years ago. More sensible to say "Hey Hey would never be made in the first place today". Which would be correct because it was rubbish

So nobody who supported someone other than Warren did so for any reason other than misogyny? Not a single one of them genuinely thought another candidate was better?

It was so kind of you to let the creator of the show know this, especially in a thread in which he was remembering his late friend. Very important work you’re doing here.
If a person who declared that NSW opening up was suicidally risky, but is now celebrating the fact that Victoria is opening up with a higher caseload than NSW ever had, simply said, "I was wrong previously", they would instantly become a far less annoying person.
@Halalcoholism
That was amazing. “The Spaniards wanted an excuse for killing thousands of people, unlike the Aztecs, who killed thousands of people to keep the sun from going out”
@pattonoswalt
Which starred Linda Hamilton, who was in Dante's Peak with Pierce Brosnan, who was in The World Is Not Enough with Denise Richards, who was in Wild Things with Kevin Bacon!
Cal Wilson was one of the cleverest and funniest performers going round, but much more: as kind and sweet a human being as I’ve ever known. I am in shock. I know I’ll be one of many many people who are devastated but so grateful to have known Cal.

I need to clarify: my problem is not anything to do with wokeness or fear of false accusations or anything. It’s just good old-fashioned fear of rejection. Nothing modern about it.
@thebettinaarndt
Please, Bettina, I ask sincerely: explain what "driven too far" means in the context of a man setting his wife and three children on fire. For the love of god tell me what are the circumstances in which murdering your own children is a reasonable response. Please. I beg you.
People wearing Nazi uniforms as a joke are not a problem. It’s the people who aren’t joking that are a problem. Hitler, for example, was a problem. Mel Brooks, for example, is fine.
It's funny how millions of people feel they (and others) MUST support Kamala Harris just because she is brown and female.
This is what happens when you convince people that immutable identity traits are more important than competence.
Perceived victim hierarchy above all.

The funniest bit is that for the story it tells, the movie actually plays UP the severity of the situation. In real life the Von Trapps just got on a train and left with no problems
@aimeeterese
The logical corollary of this seems to be that if abortions ARE legal, men SHOULD be allowed to take no responsibility for their children. Rachel thinks that’s ok?
Apparently people are still talking garbage about “underlying conditions” so - even though it’s yelling into the void - I feel compelled to go over this AGAIN. 1/
@AshBCoffin
Same happened to me except instead of a Henry Hoover it was a tiny man with one eye who lived in our house and could not say anything except "it is done"
Nope. We’ve already established that if you’re at a rally, and Nazis show up at that rally, it’s a Nazi rally and you’re a Nazi. Those are the rules now. We decided.
Important post from the organisers of last night’s rally. The footage circulating is selectively edited to give the impression the whole crowd was engaged in this chant. That is not the case. It was sufficiently few people that I could not hear it from about 20m away.
The lockdown is a choice made by the Victorian government. Stop acting like it's an irresistible law of nature. If you think lockdowns are good just admit it.
@HJJoyceEcon
@fairplaywomen
In fact, as we know, clown fish change sex when they can't find a mate of the opposite sex. So really we should keep men completely segregated from women, wait for them to change sex, THEN allow them into women's prisons and sport. It's science.
So yes, it IS necessary to report how many of those who die had underlying conditions. It’s not dismissive, heartless or an evil conspiracy. It’s just obvious sensible public health messaging. And if you complain about it you’re either stupid or dishonest. 6/end
Indeed. If the Coen Brother gave a shit about women they would, like, marry one, and then give her the lead role in one of the greatest movies of all time, for which she would win an Oscar. Fucking disgusting how the Coen Brothers never did that.
also watching lots of Coen brothers films in short order it's really remarkable how few are helmed by women characters (as in, none of them are, right?)
@ddale8
We've been treated very badly by the Pacific. Very badly. The Pacific is a very good friend. But my tariffs will make sure the Pacific pays its fair share
At this point I am going to assume that anyone calling for harsher lockdown measures in NSW simply wants me and my family to suffer more and is motivated purely by sadism. I can’t honestly maintain belief in anyone’s good faith anymore
@Halalcoholism
Nothing Trump says should be taken literally OR seriously, but everything Biden and Harris say should be interpreted in the most literal and extreme way possible.
"Have you ever noticed how whenever someone inconveniences the dominant western power structure, the entire political/media class rapidly becomes very, very interested in letting us know how evil and disgusting that person is?" Thanks
@caitoz
Melbourne has unique challenges fighting covid. Unlike Sydney, in Melbourne people live in groups, several in one house, rather than individual steel pods. Also in Melbourne, unlike Sydney, breathing is legal.
Anyone even a *little* bit disturbed by the fact a government can make it illegal to leave your house after 9pm and when questioned just shrug its shoulders?
Daniel Andrews on calls to scrap the curfew because "there's no health advice behind it" says he's sorry "if people can't do their grocery shopping at 1am or exercise" but there is a reason the curfew exists.
@newscomauHQ
As far as I can tell, covid zero enthusiasts are in favour of keeping state borders closed forever, and are also happy to keep Victoria and NSW locked down forever.
Feel compelled to point out that lockdowns and restrictions are always a choice. A quarantine leak doesn't automatically cause lockdowns like the moon causing the tides: governments decide to lock down or not.
The PM says Hotel Quarantine has been 99.99% effective.
The 0.01% has sparked lockdowns/restrictions in most cities.
The 0.01% led to a 22% fall in the City of Melbourne's economy.
Howard Springs has a 100% success rate. No lockdowns. No deaths.
That 0.01% is wearing thin.
Of all the people I've interviewed, I think Michael Gudinski had the hugest, most irrepressible passion for his work. I barely even managed to ask a question, he was off and running and unstoppable in talking about Australian music. Boundless energy and humour and love
