Yeah, even the witch trials in Europe were in the day to day primarily an outlet for agrarian tensions between townspeople, often accusing competitors of using malificarum to destroy crops or kill livestock.
One striking thing about every historical tyranny is that you see people getting reported to the authorities over… nothing. The slightest reasons. This person was a business competitor. This person mildly annoyed the complainant.

Secularism only works if the public sphere is willing to celebrate a diversity of traditions. State atheism/laicite almost always end up being weaponized for majoritarian politics, and state religions are obviously weapons of the majority.

I’m a Christian and any pluralist society which values freedoms should openly be allowed to display symbols from any religion which requests it. This is the only sane way to do religious symbols in the public sphere.

@lucifari0us @BladeofDaenerys @theesilver I mean it is weird that they made it a violent rape scene, they used a lot more then they needed to, they could’ve had it telegraphed in many other ways it was weird and wrong and scary. But they chose to have it be a much more violent scene.

Okay but like, an analysis of how the sense of smell is used in literature is actually an interesting niche for a research topic. This could probably easily become a citation for really any discussion of how class is discussed in a more specific piece of media.
