My neighbours stay in their own bungalow valued at Rs. 20 crore and yet drive a Nano. They are 65+ and the lady of the house finds it convenient for driving to nearby market etc. When ego isn't a factor there is not much we need.
My son's school fees have been consistently compounding at 10%/annum. The school does not even bother to explain the hike and the higher fee simply appears on the payment app! When parents protested, they said please look for another school for your kids!
Earning good IT salaries while working remotely from home in Tier 2 & 3 cities is a double blessing. Know many such professionals who make 25 LPA+ while staying in their hometown & often with their parents. Such folks end up saving a majority of their income & can achieve
My nephew got hired by one of the Big 4 consulting firms right after college (this was 2 years back). The entire family was ecstatic and so was he at the time. Yesterday he came over and broke the news that's he's quitting. Apparently, he's 'burn out' and want to take a break
ENCOUNTERED A NEW SCAM!
My health insurance policy is due for renewal and yesterday i received a call from someone who claimed to be from
@ICICILombard
. The agent confirmed my details and also my policy details which matched. He then shared the premium quote which matched with
Received an email from an employee who is due for annual appraisal. He's asking for a 66.66% hike! He's already sitting at 30 lakhs/annum. How should i respond?
Gurgaon guys adapt road rage response during excessive hot weather. Instead of fist fights, they fight with their SUVs while in the comfort of the AC. Very smart indeed.
Normal split ACs seem to have been phased out now. Visited Croma, Vijay Sales & Reliance Digital and they only have inverter ACs on sale. My experience with inverter ACs has been poor. Found them to be lower on cooling ability on very hot days & once old they are pricey to
The highly paid professionals staying in high-rises of Gurgaon have ruined the domestic help market in the city. Maids don't want to work in kothis/builder floors, they enjoy working in condos where all their friends work. They say pay is better there and there is lesser work!
I wonder how running a gym today is profitable. Back in 1998 i used to pay Rs. 800/mo for a basic gym at DDA Sports Complex Saket. It had no AC, raw equipment and manual treadmills! Today I pay Rs. 1570/mo (Cult annual pack). The gym is in pricy DLF Phase-1, has Technogym
This post surely has hit a raw nerve! My son is in Grade 3 and it's a reputed CBSE school in Gurgaon. School fees is Rs. 30000/month including meals (excluding bus). If this continues to compound at 10% it would be nearly Rs. 9,00,000 per annum when he's in 12th.
Met a couple in their 50s who were earlier staying in Gurgaon. Empty nesters, kid working overseas. They rented out their 3bhk apartment on Golf Course road and moved to a rented 3bhk cottage near Shimla. The rent from their Gurgaon apartment alone covers the cottage rent + all
Anyone noticing health insurance premiums going up like crazy. The premium on my family floater policy has gone by up 38.5% in 2 years for the same cover and policy type!
What goes on at top clubs in Gurgaon:
1. The host at the entrance will profile you & do you a favor by allowing entry (after taking a cover charge between 1000-2000pp)
2. If you enter after 9pm chances are you won't get a table or even a chair as it's getting packed.
3. You
Haldiram has been valued at upwards of Rs. 70500 crore in the ongoing bidding war by Blackstone led consortium. That's equivalent to 123rd listed company market cap! What a journey from a halwai ki dukan in Bikaner! In business execution wins over innovation.
Pointing towards a slowdown in Gurgaon's real estate boom a prominent listed developer has launched a very attractive project on Dwarka Expressway priced at just Rs. 1.99 crore for an ultra-luxury 2500 sq.ft 3bhk!
More than that the payment plan is amazing, 20% within 3 months,
Going by the 100s of comments on this post it's clear that inverter ACs are a rip off and buyers are being sold an inferior product in the name of power savings. Sadly we won't even be left with the choice to buy non inverter ACs soon as all companies are focused on inverter only
Normal split ACs seem to have been phased out now. Visited Croma, Vijay Sales & Reliance Digital and they only have inverter ACs on sale. My experience with inverter ACs has been poor. Found them to be lower on cooling ability on very hot days & once old they are pricey to
The aunty who drives this car likes it and doesn't want to change. Her husband drives a Mahindra XUV300, son a Mini Cooper and other son a Kia Seltos. It's a joint family staying in the 20cr. bungalow.
Let's hope Gurgaon votes for change. Rao Inderjit Singh (BJP) has been the MP since 2004 and has done zilch for the city. About time his royal *** is booted out.
This is the new American Express office on the SPR road. It's built by DLF on land bought by Amex from DLF. DLF owns over 300 acres of commercial land near this where more such office campus would come up in the next decade. This is the most promising area for RE investors today.
@rohini_sgh
They aren't poor. Maid makes 25k, husband is a driver and make another 25k. Son is 19 and works for Blinkit and makes 30k/month. Combined income is 80k and NO TAX. You call them poor?
@GabbbarSingh
Well the price isn't just for the apartment. DLF Camellias is a rich boys club and people are willing to cough up big bucks to join the club. Startup founders, industrialists, politicians, cricketers, they are all here. Ofcourse the amenities, views and location are best of best.
Some sectors on Dwarka Expressway are wetland but developers have built high-rise apartments there. See this abandoned project in Sec-107, the tower are standing in water!
This is the same area where a couple of floor plates collapsed in Chintels Paradiso project in Feb' 22.
DLF launches Rs. 40-50 crore holiday homes in Goa for those who already have a Rs. 100 crore Camellias in Gurgaon. Meanwhile mere mortals keep complaining about taxes, STCG, LTCG and indexation.
It's not just Gabbar, everyone is wondering who is buying apartments worth Rs. 7cr+ in undeveloped areas of Gurgaon. Some say it's investors & brokers, some say it's Delhi crowd while some give credit to our NRI brothers. Interesting to read the comments of this post.
@GabbbarSingh
Made me think, the priciest apartments in Gurgaon also face a golf course and expansive greens which presents a completely dark view at night.
This is why DLF is able to sell 7-8 crore apartments. People don't want to keep battling basic infra issues when they have the money to lead a better life. In condos most of these issues are dealt with.
Sewage overflowing outside our home for last few days. Electricity cut everyday for some time. Drinkable water supply for 4 hours a day. And let’s not talk about air quality. This is for a town which is in NCR. 75+ years of Independent india and all political parties have come
On my way to the gym in the morning i see several runners on the road. They risk getting run over, take in polluted air, face traffic & road noise, encounter street dogs & piles of garbage and yet they find it a worthwhile exercise. Why not run in a park?
A plot i bought in Suncity township on Sikar road in Jaipur in 2009 has given a 16.75% CAGR for the last 15 years. Good RE investments is the laziest & most boring way to wealth. Meanwhile equity guys can keep grinding and still find it hard to beat such a return on capital.
Wonder what pub owners in Gurgaon must be going through seeing pubs in Pune getting sealed for serving to minors. Have never seen anyone asking for ID from young patrons at any pub here. I remember when i was in the US, even at age of 35 i had to show my ID to get a drink.
DLF's journey of making apartments in Gurgaon started with this. It's the Silver Oaks (1999) project in DLF Phase-1 (left). What a long way they have come from then to the Camellias (right)! Also highlights the growing wealth and aspirations of Indians and the growth of Gurgaon!
In a city like Gurgaon the biggest problem plot owners looking to construct standalone houses (kothis) face is the lack of skilled manpower. I'll explain why.
The best manpower is working with Tier-1 construction companies like Shapoorji, Tata, L&T, Leighton, Ahluwalia etc. The
@housepersqft
It's good to see your brother listening to your dad especially when he's earning well. Buying a car is ok just EMI should be low as a percentage of monthly take home pay.
In the last year DLF has launched 3 high rise projects in Gurgaon. A total of 3000+ apartments. All of them 4bhks (3577-3950sqft) priced at Rs. 7 cr+. When most live in nuclear families today, what's driving the demand for 4bhks in Gurgaon? Arbour and Privana layouts seen below.
@rohini_sgh
Where is the exploitation? They work where they want and at the pay they want. I'm just stating that market dynamics are altered in Gurgaon due to recent influx of MNC professionals who are paying much higher.
A gentleman came in for a consultation the other day. He had a 4cr. budget for a 3bhk in a new launch project in Gurgaon. Halfway through the consultation, he disclosed that he had already paid a deposit to a builder and now wanted to know if he's made the right decision!
I felt
Saw a YouTube video of a Gurgaon broker selling a new high-rise project. He says in a 10-acre project there will be 6 towers & all towers will be facing 'deep forest' as the project is 'forest themed'. Swimming pool with be like a river meandering through the 'forest'!
Apartment
@kaysninef
This is the new reality atleast in IT and other sectors where remote work is possible. Commerical real estate especially office spaces in the west are seeing lot of pressure as a result.
60 crore apartments coming soon from DLF in Gurgaon!
420 apartments, ranging from 9500-15000 sq.ft (super area). They say the project will realize 25000cr so that comes to an average of 60 crores per apartment!

So many parents are fed up with rapidly escalating school fees and high handedness of private schools that this simple tweet went viral and was picked up by
@moneycontrolcom
While we chose to put our kids in private schools we didn't expect steep hikes without explanation.

| Parents outraged as schools hike fees without transparency, pushing financial strain.
Real accounts highlight the burden: a Gurugram parent pays Rs 30,000/month for Class 3.

UK had its general elections yesterday. I am here on vacation and life went about just like any other day. Offices were open, pubs were open too. People vote when they can, mostly after work. Politicians are considered more like service providers rather than cult figures.
Someone did this to our city - converted it from a clean city to a dump yard and pays zero attention despite complaining - swacchta Bharat dream died in Gurgaon. don’t forget when you vote this election

Hinduism doesn't need to be saved. Ours is the oldest surviving religion in the world. Please focus on saving your job, saving your marriage & saving money for your future. Bharat mata would be happy. Hindutva narrative is only to garner votes and grab power. Don't be fooled.
While BJP remains in power, at least we will have an opposition of some significance in the parliament. Good for democracy and for the people of India. Hopefully Modi & his ministers are less arrogant in this term.
Free houses sold right after the beneficiaries got possession. The free houses were built from the tax you paid. In this country, either be very rich, or be poor. You'll get screwed if you are in the middle.
People doing zabardast virtue signalling in comments. In reality we all love our kaamwali bai who makes our lives so much easier. It's also one of the big perks being in a developing country like India where even the middle class can afford house help.
Feels a bit sad to see offline retail dying. Empty stores on weekdays and even on weekends don't see many carrying shopping bags. Even if you like something in a large brand's store, often you find it's cheaper on Amazon/Myntra etc. Just today went to a bookstore but ended up
Several RWAs of Gurgaon have put up banners that residents would be boycotting the Lok Sabha elections due to lack of basic municipal services and Govt. apathy. Started from Sector 38 & has now spread to Sushant Lok - 2, South City - 1 and more colonies.
@LarissaFernand
I see premiums are now as per city so Gurgaon being in their top tier i.e costliest medical care, demands a higher premium and yes 18% GST for our sleeping partner.
@VishalBhargava5
You'd be surprised to know that even a developer like DLF has delayed making a clubhouse in an upscale plotted development (Alameda) in Gurgaon for more than 13 years!
