I was intern talking about my grandpa who was in the hospital. I told PGY5 I was going Sat am drive 8 hrs see him and return Sun. Chief of Surg overheard and said, “what are you doing here? Go visit him now!” He let me leave Fri am. Last time I saw him alive. Forever grateful.

Surgeon here. We do all sorts of things during surgery besides operate. Mainly having to do with listening to music, singing or gossiping. When assisting, it can be boring and you daydream. I’m not sure during c-sections because the patient is awake.

I saw this a lot when I was on my trauma rotations in East Los Angeles (2002-2004). Gang bangers would come in all shot up and we’d cut their clothes off. Most of the time they were wearing bikini briefs under their boxers.

Since healthcare is based on cost/person. Makes no difference if you have a large population or a small one. In fact, may be more cost efficient to provide care for a bigger population. The reason we don’t have it in the USA is because of entrenched economic interests.

Not sure about NZ, but here in the USA we use the patient’s chart to document the patient’s findings and deficiencies, not the doctor’s. Makes as much sense as saying Babinski reflex negative in Dr Psirides. The next treating physician may speak Arabic.

Where did you say that? Anaplastic has a dismal prognosis. Medullary is not good either. The most common are papillary and follicular. Thyroid cancer can metastasize, but for pap and foll even the mets tend to grow slowly.

So wrong. High voltage batteries last the life of a car. Brakes are hardly used because of regeneration. I’ve had my Tesla Model 3 4.5 years. I’m at 62K miles. One new set of tires at 32K. I had to replace the 12V battery at 58k miles. Otherwise, only replaced washer fluid.
