@stephenwertheim @speechboy71 While totally crazy, it highlights the lack of any plausible plan. There's no, "This is the better, more realistic, and more humanitarian plan that will be acceptable to all sides", it's just, "wow that's an insane idea."

@NikoSarcevic It’s an LLM like ChatGPT, but is open source. If you consider ChatGPT to be a generic term, then it’s a ChatGPT.

@awootten If it's basically legal in the US... Anyway, I fear that astronomy did not sufficiently support Trump's inauguration.

@gonglei89 @fredsoda If the American economy were in a healthy place the US wouldn’t be pinning the hopes of the future economy on PKU and Tsinghua graduates.

When in Rome... had my first 0-dollar shopping experience at @cvspharmacy in California! 10/10, but would prefer to not do it again. [not sure what else to do when there's nobody to ring you up, no self-serve machines, and attempts at ringing myself up failed]

@chinahand Just in case anyone from the deepseek team was considering a lucrative offer from OpenAI...

@okaythenme @Danielsrotaryo1 At minimum, I would expect the decency of advance warning to allow for a transition.

@astro_zhou Of course, it's possible that Lemoine is at least partially correct, if applied to US universities...

@dilanesper @dmahoney Right. Obviously there's an advantage in everything to growing up wealthy. The question isn't, which method isn't biased, it's which method is least biased.

@zzbar Agree. I don't understand the NVIDIA stock price decline, unless it's about broader concerns on chips. That AI can be more efficient should be expected and wouldn't clearly decrease demand for chips. But when Huawei competes...

@GlennLuk My better half uses it all the time for things like recipes for the little one, and other practical life stuff (I don’t even know his account). I’m as impractical as it gets, so Twitter it is.

Deepseek authors will develop innovative new systems just to avoid being asked when they will get married.
DeepSeek going mega viral right now is probably gonna ruin (at least some of) their employees’ Chinese New Year holidays (the Year of the Snake starts 1/29) Is this a coordinated campaign to get back at them for the Christmas (really the 26th) date drop of the V3 technical paper? 😂 PS I really saw seemingly smart people make a big deal out of the dates. It’s only a little less retarded than the takes claiming RedNote and DeepSeek are coordinated parts of a joint influence campaign. Not to crap on RedNote too much, but that company is known for being slow
