2024 is getting off to a fun start in D.C.: the Council will vote on a resolution next week authorizing it to sue Bowser over her refusal to expand SNAP benefits.
This would be the first such suit since the Vince Gray-era battles over budget autonomy.

The Council should vote on every director’s confirmation. Letting the vote lapse is failing to face concerns raised by the community. It’s taking the easy way out instead of being accountable to the people. It also signals community concerns don’t matter. Inaction is an action.
Tomorrow, Everett Lott will officially be approved as director of DDOT. The council never took a vote on his appointment, so he's deemed automatically approved b/c of a set deadline the council must vote by.

DNA analysis is a critical tool to close cases, increase accuracy, prevent recidivism, & support victims.
We must include this in Secure DC, particularly for sexual assault & rape survivors--these cases are hard to prove & often committed multiple times.
