I don’t think I’ve the following but wouldn’t it be great if we could get
#HappyBirthdayVikki
trending in honour of my amazing retired guide dog Vikki who turns 13 today? Love you so much sweetheart. Every day spent with you is a pleasure and a privilege. Keep that tail wagging!
@AngieBeatDown
@premierinn
So sorry to hear. This is appalling. When Vikki was my Guide Dog we got chucked out of some places but not the middle of night on fireworks night. Being kicked out is v distressing.
@premierinn
whatever you have to say won’t be good enough but I expect you to speak in this thread
Hey
@ArgosHelpers
pls can you thank Dave your delivery driver in Yeovil tonight. I ordered a fan as my 11 year old retired guide dog really struggling with the heat. Dave saw from my order note I’m visually impaired so we both put on our masks & he plugged it in and set it up.
Very privileged to have been at

party last night - my Dad was going to take a photo of me with Finn but I think he’s ended up taking a very short video!

Some of you will know this day a year ago I took a serious overdose. Today I’ve decided to share the Nurse entries from an ICU diary that was written for me in the hope it may help someone else think twice

There’s no question for me here I’m afraid. I’m visually impaired. I’ll never be able to drive. Driving is a privilege. They’ve been caught several times & obviously not learnt the dangers of speeding. Time for them to have licence taken away so they can have a proper think.
Really pleased that it was confirmed by my potential employer this afternoon that me, Vikki and our Mobility Instructor from Guide Dogs can go and visit them tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞 it goes well!
You’ll never guess what - after 24 job interviews I’ve been VERBALLY PROVISIONALLY offered the job I was interviewed for in Yeovil on Friday! Really happy but the offer is currently subject to references and medical clearance though.
Being visually impaired as usual my photography is rather hit and miss - I try and take a lot of photos & only show you the best! Here’s some from last night at Finn’s Party

Thank you to everyone who has sent best wishes & asked how my new job is going. It is going well thank you. I am (slowly) finding my way around, have done some data protection training & am learning the employer’s computer systems.
Forgot to say also I’ve been told that after I’ve been trained for a month or so in my new job I will have the option of working from home some days. I think this would be good as then we won’t need to get to the office & Vikki can do what she likes at home.
@Shrink_at_Large
I really hate the terminology ‘threats of suicide’. Why can’t they say ‘We are experiencing an increase in claimants who are feeling suicidal/expressing thoughts of suicide’.
@nnicolef1
@tedkravitz
is real gentleman. It was many years ago now but I’m visually impaired & was alone at the Monaco F1 trying to get back to train station. Ted approached me, asked if I was ok, introduced himself, walked me to the train station, helped me get on train & sat with me.
Access to Work have approved funding for my software & equipment. I’ve signed a declaration to send back to them, my employer is buying the things I need then I can start. Hope to hear a start date soon 🤗
Many thanks to everyone for the best wishes for this mornings visit to my potential employer. I think it went well - had a building tour, looked at where best for me & Vikki to sit in the office and did some route learning with Guide Dogs 🤗
This Account was meant for Vikki so want let you all know Guide Dogs retired her last Fri due to arthritis & anxiety.
Vikki’s been my guide dog since Mar 2012 providing me with 8 1/2 years amazing service. She’s 10 years 3 months old. Thank you sweetheart - time to be a pet now!
Not going to be tweeting too much tonight as need to prepare for my job interview in the morning and then going to see
@K9Finn
@finnforchange
in the evening - so excited, will be a busy day but so worth it! 🐶🐾⭐️❤️
Today I went karting with my family to celebrate my Nephew’s 12th birthday in a few days time. Due to my visual impairment obviously I wasn’t allowed to drive but the circuit let me participate by having my own marshall to drive me - had to hold on tight!
Occupational Health have cleared me for work when I saw them today!!! Me and the lady who will hopefully be my Manager also had a good chat with the Access to Work assessor who will be making some reccomendations re software and equipment I need. Happy 🤗👍🏽
Technically Vikki’s not supposed to be on my bed but this is how she stands to ask if she can come up - two paws on the floor and two on the bed and then waits! At least she asks! 🐶🐾
Wasn’t feeling great when I woke up this morning then I received an offer of 2 tickets to

@finnforchange
@K9Finn
so excited! Will any of my other Twitter friends be there? Be good to meet you all! 🐶🐾
Dog owners remember you don’t know each dogs story or whether they are comfortable near other dogs. A lady just moaned cos Vikki barked at her dog when she let it say hello through our garden fence. Vikki was attacked 2018 & isn’t comfortable near other dogs.
Happy Easter

It’s my birthday today I’m 36 - thanks to you all for helping me reach this grand age!
I’m excited we’ve got

If you travel by train with your dog and see a guide dog owner please give us some space. The other day we were on the train and another dog owner insisted on standing right by us. I expect there were only 2 or 3 dogs on the entire train.
On this day in 2012 me & Vikki were doing our guide dog partnership training so we have been together 7 years now! She has helped me so much 🐶🐾❤️❤️❤️

Vikki update - After a lot of discussion Guide Dogs have decided to partially retire Vikki. Vikki can no longer go to the office with me but can do normal duties evenings and weekends. My Mum is having her while I’m at work.
We did it! Me and Vikki did it! We managed to walk Vikki’s normal morning walk this morning. It was slow and I felt weak, dizzy and faint at times but we did it.
At one point when I was being bed bathed in hospital I wondered if I would ever walk again.
Hmmm Vikki doesnt seem to agree with the suggestion the vet nurse made that she should have courgette as a treat. I put a slice in her bowl and she’s taken it out and put it on the floor!
Great to hear Finns Law passed it’s third reading in the House Of Commons this morning. Now over to the House Of Lords - fingers and paws crossed! 🐶🐾🐴⭐️❤️✅

Having laser surgery on my right eye today to try and reduce the eye pressures. Me & Vikki will be staying at my parents tonight where I get very little phone signal so don’t worry if you don’t hear from us! Have a good day x
Because Vikki is a retired guide dog the hospital don’t have to let her in but guess who got special permission to visit last weekend?? I couldn’t believe it when they allowed her in and it was so good to see her 🐶🐾❤️
Right back from our walk (which wasn’t very successful due to lots of fireworks going off!) so now off to bed for us.
Will leave you with a picture of Vikki sitting looking out for our taxi earlier! Night night speak to you all next year x
Next weeks job interview will be my 24th since Feb 18 - I never dare think I might get the job anymore but this one is a very local opportunity so must be worth attending.
Vikki’s paw was stood on in a cafe today and I didn’t know until she yelped - I know most people aren’t looking at the floor when walking around but please look out for guide dogs!
V scary experience today when an off lead dog ran up to Vikki in town. Thought she was going to be attacked again. Dog didn’t hurt her but ran up & chased her round in a circle. Pls keep dogs on leads in town centres, near roads & around working guide dogs.
Merry Christmas everyone 🎅🏼🎄🎁. Sorry I’ve not been tweeting much recently but I still try to stay up to date. Thanks to those who have offered support.
Here’s some photos from Vikki’s Christmas morning free run 🐶🐾❤️
Thanks so much Ben from

Yeovil for spending 3 hours with me today choosing and setting up in store for me a new desktop PC and printer & going the extra mile and installing accessibility software I need to use it due to my partial sight - v grateful
Yay Occ Health just rang back offering me a face to face appt for 2.30pm today! Going to fit me in! Will be tight but hopefully I can do that & then get to my Access to Work appointment for 4pm
I’ve also been contacted by Access to Work today. My workplace equipment assessment will now be Monday afternoon! Much happier now that things seem to be moving forward quite a bit.
This week feels a difficult one for me but I was really pleased to do some training with the Samaritans earlier so hopefully I can help my local branch as a volunteer with admin soon. Something I really want to do 🤗✅
I always think with Twitter it’s the quality of our followers that counts not the quantity and our followers are amazing. I do have one goal though. To try and get to 1000 followers by Vikki’s birthday on 29th June. Do you think we can do it?
Interview done. First interview where I’ve been offered a bowl of water for Vikki without asking. I’ve decided I don’t like picture questions in psychometric tests. I sometimes struggle to understand pictures due to my sight!
I have a couple of hours leave to take Vikki for a free run with my parents tonight. I’m really excited even if it is going to rain! I love hearing Vikki’s bell as she runs across the field. When she is happy that makes me happy too 🐶🐾❤️
@blindseyeview
@coopuk
I am so sorry Charly. Sending lots of love. You & Daphne and no other guide dog partnership should ever be treated like this. You’ve been very articulate in your thread about the effect. Please take care of you both & report to Guide Dogs. Here if you need to talk.
@PdStellaGlosPol
@mancpaw
Well I’ve got an idea what they can do if they don’t like it. And they can blame me because I’ve asked you to still tweet. I enjoy your tweets whether or not you or working and they are important to me 🐶🐾❤️
For the first time today I found out some groups are happening on the ward and went to them. This morning it was Emotional Regulation Skills, this afternoon it was Tai Chi and in a minute it will be relaxation group! Definitely makes the time in hospital go quicker.
This won’t seem like an achievement to anyone else but for me it is - since an OD last March my GP surgery have been prescribing some of my medication weekly but today they agreed to move it all to prescribing monthly. Less pharmacy visits - so pleased!
I am SO excited - my parents are visiting me on the ward this evening and the ward has agreed Vikki can come with them! I know it’s my own fault I haven’t seen her much recently but I really miss her 🐶🐾❤️ xx
Today at 17.45 I am going to cuddle Vikki extra tight. It was a year ago today she suffered an unprovoked attack from another dog while simply doing her job & guiding me home from the doctors. She required 5 stitches and 10 days off work.
Hey
@MA_PurplePoppy
look what arrived today! Vikki’s new cool coat! It’s a perfect fit and will benefit her so much. Thank you so much to you and everyone who donated to make this happen 🐶🐾❤️
On Tues when I did a train journey unfortunately staff didn’t meet me to provide pre booked assistance at my destination station. The guard was brilliant, assisted me across a stepped footbridge to station exit. This is why we need BOTH

Toe update - the surgery have looked at the details & picture I sent. Nurse Practioner going to see me at 10.20. Nurse says she may also have to refer me to Podiatry. Thanks for all your messages.
At least Vikki is on page 36 of the
#Yeovil
edition of the Western Gazette today! Her birthday isn’t until next Wednesday but our local paper only comes out once a week on a Thursday 🐶🐾⭐️❤️❤️❤️
Vikki says thank you for all the birthday wishes.
Here she is trying out her birthday present - a cooling mat.
I've put it on top of her bed to encourage her to use it!
So today’s the day for laser surgery on my left eye. Not usually a religious person but 🙏this works so my pressures drop and I don’t lose more sight & they don’t need to use a stronger laser in future!
Had an amazing time swimming in the heated outdoor pool
@PortisheadLido
today - a great way to spend the morning on New Years Day! Thank you so much for looking after my guide dog Vikki while you were so busy 🏊♂️🏊♀️🐶🐾
So proud of my amazing Vikki. She’s been retired as a guide dog for over a year now but still knew how to behave perfectly in a dog friendly cafe this morning while I enjoyed a hot chocolate and raspberry croissant. I so much miss being able to take her in places with me.
Very grateful to the brilliant, v kind Jo & Matt from Bristol Temple Meads who looked after me & Vikki yesterday when I was unwell due to the heat and arranged us a taxi home. Will be formally giving feedback. Grateful to the public who helped me also.

Sorry just another thought - god forbid similar happens again but if it does
@guidedogs
have an emergency out of hours number & it might be worth contacting them so they can back you up. Obviously you shouldn’t have to go to those lengths though.
Apologies to those of you who don’t like F1 - I follow it so you may see a few

related tweets here. Going to bed soon in the hope I can be awake at 5am to listen to the first race of the season on the radio!
I often worry that one day I’ll accidentally somehow lose access to this Twitter Account and I’m not sure how I’d cope because all the support I get here means so much to me! Thank you everybody - it is so much appreciated x
Sadly Vikki has not been herself the past few days and is having a difficult time with her health. I’d be very grateful if you could keep my precious girl in your thoughts.
Giving a shoutout to the dog friendly Moorland Hotel, Haytor who accommodated me and Vikki for 3 nights during the festive period & were very helpful during our visit. Vikki loved their large gardens!
They are 4 star but we stayed on a special offer!
After I came out from swimming I went to get Vikki from the office at my local pool and a member of staff came over and gave me £10 to give to Guide Dogs. Very generous and put a smile on my face! There’s some very kind people about.
Heard somebody moan yesterday because Vikki wouldn’t take me through a narrow space on the pavement and they had to help. Vikki was doing her job - Guide Dogs are trained not to proceed through narrow spaces unless we can walk side by side.
Today I went out without Vikki to pick something up from the Vet (she doesn’t like the bus at the moment). I had my white cane with me but still managed twice to very nearly get run over. Reminds me even more of the difference Vikki makes! 🐶🐾
