Why is Western Islam so aesthetically unappealing? This is weird considering, that in its core regions, Islam probably has the strongest living aesthetic tradition out of all the world religions. Traditionally, the art, architecture, calligraphy, etc. spread with Islam.

Yes. It’s normal for Somalis to call someone who’s really devoted to his deen a Sufi as a way to dismiss them.
Im not saying Salafis arent devoted to deen. But the Harakis Salafis (not all) amongst Somalis are known to be very involved in politics and chase after dunya.
Have you ever heard someone target a practicing Muslim by calling him "Sufi" or "Ashari"
Its always "Salafi" or "Wahhabi". The fact that everyone naturally associates piety with Salafism tells us all we need to know.

Abdulrahman Hassan pushes out recordings of his lessons and many times for free because thats a Somali thing to do.Including Somali Sufi-Asharis.
The bane of the English dawah is the focus on “institution building” that knowledge is inaccessible to everyday Muslims.
“Imam of the west” is an exaggeration but if anyone deserves it, it would be AbdulRahman Hassan. Out of all the duaat brought up in the west, ARH is exceptional.
