@a_presbitero What if the authors, research question, methodology, data, etc. all look solid? The issue is pervasive incentives, regardless of the field of research.

@mioana I agree but that's probably not where the incentives are right now. Journal gatekeeping has made econ insular: we work on what Editor 'X' likes instead of new scalable ideas that policymakers value. This can leave smart institutional Econ advisors with a limited knowledge bank.
