@_lliesl_ @VictoriaAtkins @KemiBadenoch @Conservatives So in other words, the whole basis of British farming is to sell food at below the cost of producing it? It's madness. If you want to blame anybody, blame the supermarkets who are fleecing you.

@FarmersWeekly @Conservatives @KemiBadenoch @JPBWFarm Just a reminder, this so-called damaging farm tax is a perk only available to farmers that the rest of the country cannot benefit from.

@_lliesl_ @VictoriaAtkins @KemiBadenoch @Conservatives I understand perfectly well that farmers are still getting a perk that is not available to the rest of the country, yet they moan and bleat as if it were the end of the world.

@VictoriaAtkins @KemiBadenoch @Conservatives Which "family farm tax" is this Victoria? Is it the one where farmers pay at half the rate of other businesses and then get let off interest on payment by instalments? How can the rest of us benefit from such government largesse?

@Independent What tractor tax? You mean the one where farmers pay half the rate that any other business do and then get let off the interest on payment by instalments. That one?

@WilliamMccabe60 @bjames280961 @DeborahMeaden You just don't seem to get it to do you? Businesses are run for the benefit of their shareholders. Governments run the country for the benefits of the population as a whole - at least they should - but Musk and Trump are only in it for themselves. They are not the same

@bjames280961 @WilliamMccabe60 @DeborahMeaden The richest man in the world cutting aid from the richest country in the world to the very poorest in the world could be described as nothing else but immoral. And as for his personal life, he makes Johnson look continent.

@DalrympleWill @AllysonPollock And no doubt despite not having been tried, let alone convicted, they would be always described as Palestinian "prisoners" compared with Israeli "hostages" in any media article.

@Surface232001 @TheNewsAgents @lewis_goodall We have no such convention. I might have been asleep but I don't remember a referendum on the House of Lords (Hereditary Peers) Bill? Or even the Elections Act 2022? And certainly not (at a higher level) the Succession to the Crown Act 2013? And many others.

@WilliamMccabe60 @bjames280961 @DeborahMeaden Well to start with running a government is not the same as running a business and Musk is one of the most immoral men on the planet. You think we should follow what somebody says just because they are rich? Look up what oligarchy means.

@Surface232001 @TheNewsAgents @lewis_goodall So what? Many other systems do not have a parliamentary democracy. What do you think we pay our MPs nearly £100k per year to do? Are we having a referendum on assisted dying or online safety, or a third runway at Heathrow, or rates of income tax?

@bjames280961 @DeborahMeaden I shouldn't believe everything that Musk tells you if I were you. In fact, if Musk says anything, it's an almost surefire certainty that the opposite is true

@paul14174 @DeborahMeaden Things like Covid or ebola or mpox don't care about our respect international borders. Tackling them requires international effort. But don't worry, the rest of the world will still attempt to and it will even benefit you selfish Americans.
