Transferring more freight to rail reduces road damage as a 44 tonne HGV is 100,000 times more damaging to road surfaces than a Ford Focus
@ETAservicesltd I suspect it may be more complex than that - but basically it would seem that larger heavier vehicles cause more damage. Rise of SUV use would be a big part of the explanation for degradation of country lanes in areas like @ChilternsAONB .
